350z / 370z Event Data Recorder (EDR)
Any Nissan techs willing to share what specific "events" are recorded by the EDR on 350z or 370z and how long the data is retained? I've had trouble finding much information on this and the owner's manual doesn't include a complete list of "events", nor does it explain retention periods. Anyone who can provide a complete list of "events" that are recorded as well as how long they are retained, I would be greatly appreciative! Thanks!

Well what they say it actually records and what it's capable of recording are different things. The government will soon implement a tax "per-mile" on all cars regardless of how fuel efficient they are. You will then pay this "tax" every time you fill up. The gas pump's will be equipped with a sensor to read the miles traveled since the last fill up. It's all under the carbon tax laws that taxes anyone and everything that is contributing to the carbon emissions that is "causing" the hoax of the century, global warming. I'm not making any of this up folks... do the research.
Also, how soon before cops are able to access the "EDR" or something similar in newer cars. "How fast were you going sir?" "I think 55 in a 50?" "Well, let's have a look... according to the EDR you were going 67 back there... I'll have to give you a ticket for 67 in a 50". Only a matter of time people... Plus... all cars are coming standard with satellite. They can pull any information on you whenever they want that's tied directly into the EDR. Welcome to 1984. |

The tax per mile driven is not terrible, even with the Z's gas mileage. Based on an article a year or so ago, the per mile tax was 1.2c. It also quoted gas tax as 24c/gallon. Crunching the numbers, you come out ahead...especially if you drive aggressively :). What's backwards is that taxing per mile rather than gallon of gas actually promotes inefficient vehicles.

It's just a scam to get everyone to buy these fuel efficient cars and then still tax them on each and every mile.
