3 short horn honks?
Just got my car back from SpecialtyZ after having some mods done...Stillen G3, GTM oil cooler, F.I. cbe, H&R 20mm wheel spacers all around, spc rear camber kit, Swift Spec-R springs and, RevUp tune.
When I went to pick her up, Seb pointed out that now, when you press the start button (w/o the clutch in), the car's horn sounds 3 short honks. She starts & runs fine though. I just got home and discovered that this same thing happens by simply pushing the clutch in with the car totally off. When the clutch is almost all the way depressed, the horn makes 3 short, quick honks...wtf is going on here? I'm hoping someone here has had this experience and can tell me what's going on. |
leaning on horn while pushing button? lol

That's a first... Video?

Seb is looking into it too, I'm sure it's no big deal, just annoying.

As for the tune, I'm sure Seb will fix whatever the problem is. He & his shop have a stellar rep. |

I thought of the tune first, but the alarm question is a great one. |

Not normal!

Remove horn. Problem solved.:ugh2:

Odd for sure.
I would Flash the car back with the Stock ROM an see what happens. See if the issue goes away then. |
Either something screwy in BCM or maybe related to a launch control setting that is accidentally activated?
|
Wild guess: The theft alarm system is enabled. Try turning it off.

Again, the car starts & drives just fine. Actually, it's driving awesomely after all the mods...other than this annoying glitch. |

He's an :icon23: from Halifax too. |
Very strange. I wouldn't even look at the ROM, I'd bet on a wiring mistake during the install of the G3's and oil cooler. There's wiring for the horn up there, and depending on how you do the install(s), you may have to disconnect it to move it out of the way. Other things up there include wiring for stuff like ambient air temp sensors, washer fluid bottle, radiator fans, crash sensors, hood latch sensors. They're all unique connectors that can't be plugged into each other I'm pretty sure, but something went crazy up there, and the horn + wiring for it *is* in that area. Maybe all it takes is one broken ground wire somewhere to cause an odd fault state that produces your behavior, who knows.
You might see if there's any correlation with any of those systems: do they all work (rad fans run when car hot, ambient air temp on gauge roughly correct, washer fluid sprays, hood latch warning if you roll off with it open, etc)? Do any of them cause funny horn sounds? |
Im guessing it was perfectly fine just before the tune right?
Then something glitched when it was flashed. Pretty weird though. This is the first time in 4 yrs I've heard of such a thing. Seb's a great guy from what I hear and I know he'll figure it out IF the tune caused this glitch. Keep us posted. |

I have the same problem. Happened when the dealership installed their alarm system (got it for free). It makes the 3 short honks when i open/close the door by clicking the button on the handle to unlock (same with the trunk). Just a sensitive alarm i suppose.

Yeah, i'm thinking a wire got crossed somewhere during the install. I'll let y'all know when I get it sorted out. |
This is a great mod for street racing!
