Default oil filter mag & mag drain plug, which one and where to buy?

ive read ak370s thread, but the links to where to buy those products dont work since its so old.

For the oil filter it says K&N hp-1008, ive seen one at canadiantire.CA but it says hp-3002 gold oil filter ( K & N Performance Gold Oil Filter | Canadian Tire ), is that compatible with my 2012 Z? whats the difference between the hp-1008 and 3002?

Secondly, if im able to find the KN hp-1008 filter in canada, which neodymium filter mag will fit and where to purchase that as well?

Lastly, i guess neodymium is a strong magnet if not the strongest type, where and which type n size will i need and where to purchase in canada a magnet drain plug?

thnx

I had no luck trying to locate a magnetic oil drain plug here in Calgary … tried Parts Source, Auto Value, Mopac and other auto outlets. There was a place in Red Deer that offered Greddy mag plugs … but the price was over $60.00. Ended up buying from Joe at Z Speed Performance … along with some K&N filters and his aluminum under-carriage shroud (… which he deserves a Nobel prize for since it makes changing the oil and filter so much more convenient). Service was great … placed the order and the parts arrived within 3 days.

does this thing have any benefit, or is it just you see (?) metal stuck on the inside of the filter that you cant see but it feels good?

I don't have the Filter Mag so I can't comment. I have noticed a bit of metal "lint" on the mag oil drain plug when doing an oil change … which probably says it helps. But nothing like the filings and gunk when I removed the mag drain plug on the diff for the first time (at approx. 1,000 miles). That was scary

I'm pretty sure amazon and eBay China ship to Canadia, so look for the oil plug there.

As for a filter mag, get a dead hard drive, break it, find 2 magnets. That's what I use. No way the filter mag is stronger

Give these people a shout for the filter mag.

Contact Us | FilterMag

They will ship to Canada via USPS if you ask them and I think it was around $10 shipping.

I tried desperately to find a vendor in Canada with no luck. I chased dead links, farm equipment suppliers, unanswered emails etc etc.

I'll bet they charge a premium to ship it though.

... Use magnets from a hard drive and stick 2 on the oil filter. Bam, done, and cheaper than a $50 filter mag

Yeah those things are DEATH if you get anything pinched in-between them. Whew talk about a blood blister. I use them too. I use a small one on the outside of my oil pan screw, but haven't yet on my Z.
