oil filter mag & mag drain plug, which one and where to buy?

Well, I think you're more holding the crap to the wall of the filter so it doesn't clog the filter element. I think either way the amount of metal cars shed isn't much, we just do it because it makes us feel better.
And $2-60 investment on $30-50k isn't much

I largely agree. I change cars like some people change underwear (and I don't mean only when they get wrecked), so I'm not too worried about it. It's a bit academic.

I'll probably just go with some neat refrigerator magnets.
