I dont plan on coming close to those ranges, i just want to know for informations sake.

The reason all of these questions sound so noobish is because my first manual was a 94 Civic and it did NOT have a tachometer, so i had to base everything off of mph and engine sound. So im now trying to wrap my head around RPM being the main gauge of when to shift. So, sorry for the simplistic questions, but i am learning.
if i remember correctly these are the max MPH for every gear

1st 42mph
2nd 67mph
3rd 95mph
4th 122mph
5th 155mph(electronic limiter and gearing limit)
6th 160mph(mfr drag limit claim without electronic limiter)

Drove 12 miles to work this morning in first gear only bouncing off the limiter. No issues other than a feint burning smell.

Guys who redline often and get to believe the car likes it are like guys who want to do it every which way they can with a woman and think the woman likes it. They get blown engines and short relationships, car or woman does not matter.
You sound like you need to get yourself a vette or sum other Gov't Motors powered car. These Nissan engines don't make any torque 'till high up on the RPM band and redlining it to the stock rev limiter ain't gonna hurt it.
Car = Machine.
Your analogy with women = FAIL.

Exactly. That's why the rev limiter is there- to prevent damage. Do you think Nissan would sell and warranty a car that was able to be damaged by frequent trips to the redline?

If hitting the rev limiter caused people to blow motors, where are all of the "Guys I popped my motor" threads?

I wasn't about to touch the car=woman analogy because there's a whole lot of stupid there I don't even want to deal with.

Good rule of thumb is to shift when your tach hits about halfway to redline (in our case, 3500 rpm). This would be considered your normal, daily driver type scenario. Depending on situation (driving up/down hill, weather, etc) you can change it a little either direction without hurting it. I would say keep it under 5500 on a regular basis to just to cut down on engine wear/tear and to keep a decent fuel mileage.

For those few times that you do decide to let her sing, just try to not bounce off the rev limiter too much. Over time, you will have it figured out. Feel free to experiment a little to see where you feel the most comfortable.

Agreed, 6th gear from 55MPH+ all the way to 150. And also agreed that everyone here who 'enjoys' redlining their cars and thinks their sports car can handle it must also partake in domestic abuse/rape/sexual assault.

Our Z's like to be revved higher, so don't worry about pushing it at the higher RPM from time to time. Daily driving can be more conservative at shifting between 3k and 4k between gears.

Errr, I'm sure the people that have had fuel starve said the same thing.

Just remember "can" doesn't always mean you "should".
