Why didn't they add a capless gas cap?

Ford started the capless gas cap in 2009. I think it is a great idea. I don't know why one does not exist for the 370Z, heck gas caps have no changed in decades except for this one difference. I want to get one but I have to ask myself why Nissan did not add one to start with. Do they know something I don't know, or did they mis the boat, or am I ahead of the curve? Anyone have one or have opinions?

It is for people who are always forgetful or too lazy to twist a cap or are always in a hurry trying to save two seconds. It does improve performance though.

Since you asked, here's my opinion - of the things I'd like to see changed on the Z, a capless gas filler doesn't even register.

No, in case you take your 370 to NASCAR and need quick fillups

Agreed, Nissan really dropped the ball on this one. Add that to the fact that they also didn't throw in crappy automatic wipers ala Ford, frequently burnt-out LED headlights ala Audi, an over cluttered iDrive system ala BMW, infrared night vision ala Merc, ringtone-riddled lane departure warning system ala Lincoln, electronic parking brake ala Jag...

Honestly, sometimes if something simple already works really well, why muck about with it? The hook does a really good job of keeping the cap off the paint, and you don't exactly need to be a weightlifter to unscrew the cap.
