Best bug removal product?
I am a fan of Zaino's car products, but I haven't found the perfect product yet for cleaning off bug carcasses. I don't want to destroy the fragile Nissan paint, but using the concentrated Zaino car wash (their recommendation) isn't getting the job done.
Is there a great de-bug product out there that doesn't destroy paint? |
first off always make sure you have a good coat of wax on the car at all times. second wet dryer sheets work wonders on bugs and bird droppings.
|
Skip the harsh chemicals. The best is (believe it or not) a used Bounce (or other brand) dryer sheet. Moisten and rub gently and the bugs will come off like magic with no paint damage....

wd40

I dont know if you guys who are using Dryer Sheets or Bounce use Zaino, but i do not like the streaks it leaves on my black car.
I have found for me perosnaly, i use warm/hot water and paper towel does the trick followed up by dry paper towel to stop any water spotting. |

Sal zaino actualy told me to use wd40 also. Was fearfull to try it.
|
wouldn't WD40 eat your clear coat? Also, being here in El Paso, the sun often bakes the bugs before I can get them off, any ideas how to get that crap off the paint?

Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover Spay it on and let it sit for 30 sec and Tar and Bugs wipe off easily! I just used it on my parents Murano that I detailed and they were impressed with the results thats all I can say :)

You have to be careful with some of the bug and tar removal products as they will mess your paint up.
|
I use to have a HUGE bug problem. Here is my key. At least 2 times a day wipe down the front with mothers showtime retailer with a microfiber towel. Once a week wash it. If they are rely bad I use turtle wax bug remover.

dryer sheets, amazing stuff it is.

The best thing to do is have a clear bra installed. No question.

Yes some of the products can be harmful if they are used improper.... But in the order and how I use it, it is safe Wash, Bug/Tar removal, Clay Bar Cleaner Wax with orbital, Sealer with orbital. DAN |

holy shyt batman, I went outside earlier today only to find a nice creamy white pile of blue jay dung sitting on my hood. Dont have any products to clean it, but a fresh box of snuggle dryer sheets I do! So I got one wet, wet a microfiber towel and went to it. Sure as shyt, two swipes with the dryer sheet and the eagle poo was no more! Cleaned the residue with the towel, and shes good as new!
Dryer Sheets=Magic |
no no no, i swear im not saying dryer sheet is bad.
Honestly i rubbed the dryer sheet down the front of the bumper and it left a weird white streak. I thought man whats that. So i tryed it again and i got another streak so i said okay i dont like this method LOL. It did work though, stuff was coming off. I just didnt like the streak thing that was going on. |
You don't just use the dryer sheet. At least I don't. I take a shop towel (i.e., paper towel) and spray some water on it, and wipe. If the bug crap doesn't come off with that alone, I use a dryer sheet on it and it comes off. But even after that I wipe the spot again with the paper towel to remove any streaks. It's not rocket science.

I use microfiber, my fingernail, or hot water on microfiber, or, detail spray... That said, I literally just washed my car for the first time since having it detailed, which was about a month ago. Not quite as shiny as what I remember, but, I've also not done anything except wash it. Not sure what the detailers used (though I know it's not Zaino) - I'll probably hit a small spot of it with Zaino and see if it sticks. Some of those polishes/waxes aren't layer-able, and will look fugly if you try to (some of it will come up, some of it won't) |

Just don't use anything with ammonia in it on a clear bra, unless you want a foggy bra. :) |
so what does anyone use to remove rubber deposits on the paint and clearbra that you get after a track day?

I think its the softening agent that helps "release" the bug guts... I use Turtle Tar and Bug remover for heavy infestations but on the 370Z there isn't much to remove since she gets washed every week and waxed every three or four weeks so usually I can get it off with a detailing spray and microfiber cloth. |

Again, I use a brand new sheet as the chemicals work well loosening the bugs and guts. But my car gets it worse than others due to my location and distance.

I thought the onesies and twosies I get here and there were bad, but shyt man, looks like you wax your car with bug juice! |
