performance difference between no sport or sport package

My thought process when buying my non-sport base was why spend an extra 9k for a 2012 sport when I'm going to change all that stuff anyways when I mod

My thought process when buying my non-sport base was why spend an extra 9k for a 2012 sport when I'm going to change all that stuff anyways when I mod it or I can get a base non sport 2011 for 26k out the door brand new.

I have auto crossed it this past summer and last year a few times and stock for stock against another sport 6mt his time was 2 secs faster because he was running a square set up on Hoosier a6 tires. My brakes are great since I put super blue race fluid in. So it's all up to you and how much you want to spend. The only thing I would like from the sport pkg. is the syncro rev match. I heel toe just fine but not perfect like srm does.

I'm sorry, I'm not following your math. The sport package is a $3k option, not $9k.

Were you a comparable driver to the other guy? That's the other variable in the equation.

I'm sure the base brakes are plenty adequate, however:

vs.

When was the last time you saw a sports car without blingy brakes

However I do realize the OP was asking about performance difference and not looks, so yes, I'm sure you'll be just fine with a base.

Like someone said, the 2014 is over $3,000 cheaper, why would anyone consider a 2013? Are dealers dropping those below the 2014 deals?

You are correct! But ...... I bought a year old car (2011)in May of 2012 and the new base model was $32k plus 3k. So that's where I got the 9 k from. Remember the prices dropped for 2014 370z's.

But still performance aspect is marginal IMO and experience. The only big difference I would say is that the auto sport is significantly faster than a sport base in a drag race,(LSD and faster shifts). That i will argue, I was smoked by one in the 1/8th mile when I lived in San Diego. But other than that the difference can be argued both ways.

Also for 3 grand I can get a better LSD, brake pads, brake fluid and some puma's and perform better than a base plus sport and pay for one or two track days or
an oil cooler. If you plan on buying it to upgrade that anyway than I would say get a base to not waste any money. So function over form. Personal preference/ wallet size.

So you're comparing a new car to a used one? Gotcha. That's not really apples to apples, is it?

Your three grand doesn't include wheels and tires. Also, the akebonos are much better for track use than the base brakes, you just need pads and cooling. If you decide that you want to upgrade from the sports package, people will buy akebonos, wheels and the LSD. So you can make some money back there too.

I actually bought it with 8miles on it so it was a new car. But I guess we will never know what is truly the best bang for your buck 370z since it can go so many ways. From what I get out of all this is personal preference. If you are happy then that is all that matters in the end.

The sport pkg gives over $7000 in quality equipment for $3000. Even with the $1200 in mods the package may need to be track ready. You still keep $2800 in your pocket for more mods going with the sport pkg.

The akebonos are 10x better than the base brakes. Definitely worth the money.

I bought a new 2013 base in April and if I could do it again I'd get the sport every time. Synchro rev alone makes it worth it, but you also get a limited slip diff, better brakes and tires, and stiffer suspension. The base is a great car, but with the 3k price reduction on the Z's a few months ago it's worth it to just pay the extra money for the sport package.

if youre not going to mod it, then definitely get the sport package and leave it alone.

I believe the sport package also comes with euro tuned shocks, but not sure how similar they are to the Nismo shocks? I got the sport package just based on the LSD and Brakes and got 19 inch wheels with it so it's definitely worth the extra money you pay.

The sport is awesome, and you get synchro rev matching on the downshift with the auto. I got the touring too to get the nav.
