Dumb question about my underbody shield
Is it supposed to be closer to the ground than the rest of the car? I can push up on it and it gives way but then pops back to original position
I am hoping it didn't come loose again but I haven't bottomed out or anything.. I just randomly decided to look there and noticed this Ill put a picture tomorrow so you guys know what I'm talking about but I hope I am making sense lol |
That's normal. Here is an aftermarket under shroud but it better shows the shape

Make sure you didn't loose the plastic rivet fastener near the front of the splash shield.
There are supposed to be 3 plastic rivets fasteners |
|
Here's a picture... And one of the rivets is missing of course but I don't think that is affecting how it sits because that is way on the end of the shield
|
Picture is upside down but my first thoguht is, there shouldn't be any stickers on the outside...do you have this thing installed wrong way up??
|
Well a nissan body shop installed it... But anything is possible lol
It was a new part that I got put on after I destroyed my old one by bottoming out very hard (stupid massive dip on the road) Edit: even though the stickers are on te outside I think it's right way up, otherwise wouldn't it be sort of concave? Like it still seems to hold correctly |
Yeah, I don't think it's symmetrical so it couldn't be flipped & still fit.
There are a TON of fasteners in this thing. Maybe some of them are missing? Maybe get a diagram showing where they all are & then reach under there and make sure you're not missing any (I'm assuming you don't have a lift). I know when I had an oil change, they left a few out - I think they just get tired of putting all of them back or drop some of them. |
They take it off for an oil change?
Maybe I should just get the zspeed aluminum one |

You don't need an aluminium one unless your original one is damaged or lost. There is no functional benefit to one over the other. And the aluminium is much cheaper then a replacement new plastic OEM one not to mention nicer looking when your under the car ;) Heres a link to the parts. http://www.nissanpartszone.com/diagr...nt-747a004.png http://www.nissanpartszone.com/compo...747-301_5.html |

i dont pay too much attention on my car since she's not lowered and haven't scraped anything yet, but the lower shroud is flexable and bounces back into shape after pushing it up. i would put your car on ramps and just recheck the torque on the screws holding it in place. they do back out if they're not tightened snug. (i lost a few screws on my G35C after a dealer did a free oil change... :ugh: ) |
I think that's what happened.. I should have got te zspeed one though when I destroyed my last plastic one haha
