My car picked up 3MPH and 2/10ths in the 1/4 mile at the track going to manual mode in my AT. The shifts are hard like a mule kicking you in the kidneys and crisp/fast. Much faster than anyone could shift a manual. The bonus is it will hold the gear until you tap the paddle or shifter to grab the next gear.

I have a 2009 Challenger that's got a built motor, blower, etc making 600RWHP. In THAT car I had to have the manual trans. The autos in the Challenger are no where near as good as these Z transmissions are. Having said that, my manual Challenger is almost exactly .5 slower in ET at the quarter mile than an identically built/weight/etc automatic car and I can shift.

:iagree:, and my 370z is not my daily driver, and i ordered mine while Japan as a country and Nissan were recovering from that horrible Tsunami, around the time i met my boy Kenchan here on the forum (Kenchan really helped me by letting me know to drive my girl vanity first before changing around my suspension). I enjoy driving cars with the paddles more (supercars too), plus with the 7AT you get the option of the shifter or the paddles something that's rare on any automatic transmission regardless of the manufacturer, shift speed is on point with other pricier transmissions available from other manufacturers too! Bottom line, enjoy what your driving life is short!

so this poll shows there are 2 ladies that are more manly than 25 guys. :ugh: :icon17:

Much worse than I expected :wtf2:

Meh, I don't know why people take things so personally. Since I have cars of both manual and automatic I get some variety. For me it really goes back to the actual trans itself rather than if it's manual or auto.

I've been Mustang 5.0 shopping, adding another car to the stable and need it like another hole in the head but that's a different story. I drove the manual and I didn't care for it. I drove the automatic and it was worse. Ford FINALLY put a manual mode in the Mustang but gave it a goofy egg shaped shifter handle with an UP and DOWN button on the side of it. The transmission wasn't really changed much if at all and it still shifts slow and sluggish in manual mode when you push the buttons. You don't get that connected feel with the car like in the Z where the shifts are nearly instant when you tap the paddle or shift handle.

If Ford gets that trans right I'll buy one, until then.......
