yah, as long as it doesn't upshift on its own that's cool.

I know, engine break-in is one of those subjects that will be debated until the sun burns out.
Well the 370Zs they had at the Nismo Performance Academy were all VERY VERY low mileage... and I don't think anyone was keeping them under 4k or under 100% throttle. I still wonder what happens to those cars when they're done.... "Only one owner, only 1300 miles on the odometer, practically brand new"

As for other break ins. I've had a few performance motors built, and all the engine builders had me do the break in listed in that link that someone posted. I.e. half throttle to half rpm, cool down, three quarters to three quarters rpm, cool down, then full throttle to max rpm and cool down, three times for each part. Haven't had any problem with any of those motors yet, and those guys all built tons of motors.

As for the OP, don't worry about the 7AT. There are many times when I wish I had the auto..namely in traffic. The 7AT also does very well around the track.

I really do love the 7at and the 6mt as well, the big thing i left out was that i feel the 6mt would get me into less trouble /: ... I've gotten 2 tickets already in 3 weeks thats more then i have in my whole entire lifetime of driving.

I'll follow the instructions in the manual, thanks. My guess would be that there's a reason they put them in there. "How to break in an engine" is a debate that will never die.

Maybe stop driving like an asshat then? The transmission type isn't the issue, it's how you're driving it. Slow down before you hurt someone else/yourself/your car.

Speaking of VDC on/off, I'm glad that you can toggle it! In my 350, if I turned off TCS it was off until I turned the car off and started it back up.

In my experience, 90 degree right-hand turns onto busy streets tend to set off VDC all the time. In these situations I tend to turn VDC off so I can quickly, and safely, get up to speed on a busy street. Then again, perhaps the stock tires just aren't grippy enough...lol.

What? 350z Enthusiast and up have VDC, any car built in 12' and higher years, by law must have sort of VDC. Which in the 370 is also able to be disabled, by default its on when the car starts.

That's why I turn it off too. Too many times it's come on for no reason making a turn.

i beat the ever loving **** out of my car. redlining, speed restricter, i even turn the volume up past the recommended level. i dont get how some of the guys here, just idle around, or keep there z locked up in a garage. bought mine brand new in feb, already hit 30k, at least 1k of those miles were earned in a "spirited fashion"

and I only got 1 ticket, which im still pretty sure was BS.

now im off to find some popcorn and a flame suit

Mybe it's not that they idle around, it's that they don't put up stories of reckless driving on the streets up on the internet.
