HomeLink vs. Garage Door

Just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble getting HomeLink to connect with a garage door (in this case, Craftsman) using rolling codes? The most I can seem to get out of the Z's HomeLink on the mirror is a slow flashing red light.

I've cleared the HomeLink codes (as per the manual) but it seems to get hung up on the transmitter part for some reason (it'll slow flash red for 30-40 seconds and click off instead of giving me any indication that it took the signal).

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Seems to happen/fail both with the "learn" button on the opener motor itself as well as the menu keypad method.

Thx in advance!
Matt

Some times you just have to try it a few times to get them to link up. When I did it on my G37 I almost gave up and suddenly it started working. I had tried for a while (seemed like a stupid long time) before it "magically" stared working.

op - are you pressing the learn button on the garage door opener side?

i hated programming my homelink, but i remember i had to hit a button on the garage door opener itself.

I see you have a new Z. Try this too. Good luck.

I just took my remote for my garage door and used that as my reference for the homelink to copy.

That's what you need to do first. Cycle the handheld transmitter every 2 seconds while holding down the homelink button then it will give you an indication if you have rolling code (series of blinks). At that point you have like 30 seconds to press the learn button on the actually garage opener. Helps to have a friend cause you will have to climb a ladder quickly. If you don't have rolling code, it will pick it up after cycling the handheld.

I did this but I had my car right under the garage opener.

I sold my OEM Homelink Mirror

I bought a $10 mirror from Vatozone and clipped on a huge Broadview mirror. Now I can safely do lane changes. :eekdance:

Hey all, I bumping this up because I have a question.

I followed the manual on setting up homelink with my garage door opener. It works now, however the homelink button flashes rapidly. According to the manual, it says if it flashes rapidly (instead of staying solid) I have a rolling code and need to continue the process with the garage door operner's lean button. But its already working. Is there some kind of security issue if I don't continue on? Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

Yes, I had the same issue. I called the Nissan support line in the owner's manual and they advised me to get a repeater that plugs in near the door operator. I got it and installed it and have had no more issues.
