It would be stupid to not ask before buying.. you always have to know what you're getting yourself into and pay attention to the pros and cons of your decisions. I really do like the Z and i'll be test driving it this weekend, its just a matter of getting the deal that I want for now

I would say Tnav might be correct Chuck. Why, because he is buying it for the wrong reasons. I want an upgrade, I want a sports car and only if the deal is right and the trade in value is good. Yes civicboy is using his head, he is weighing pros and cons, for that.
When you buy a car like a Z you should not have to worry about those things. I wouldn't say the Z wasn't for him, but I would say the timing may not be right. If you have to "budget" for a car payment on a fun car, then the timing isn't right. One misfortune and boom you can't make payments you fall behind and ugghh you lose it all to a banker.
When you buy a car like this, you should just be able to wake up one day and say, "Oh hell yeah it is time to buy myself a FUN car."

I don't know your situation civicboy, but if you are on a limited budget then be careful. Is your civic paid off? If it is, then save some cash so you can throw more down later, be patient. Don't be the typical fast food American.

I didn't get the impression there was anything wrong with his finances from anything he's posted. He's trying to make the deal work. If the numbers don't work, it doesn't work. The Z isn't such a special car that good sense goes out the window and you disregard the numbers. Trying to get a good deal and taking note of increased running costs are part of being an informed buyer.

Agree Chuck, I just don't like seeing people struggle or suffer later because they want something really bad. Civicboy is doing his homework for sure.

I don't see why that's a problem? I would like an upgrade.. im happy with my Si for now but i'll be happier with the Z. if the dealer accepts my offer then so be it! if not i'll happily keep my Si!! will be posting a picture of the 'Civic' asap to show you that its just as good looking as your 'Z' Mr. Justice
And oh you cant just wake up and be like "Oh hell yeah it is time to buy myself a FUN car'. you only see that in the movies and when people are filthy rich to a point where $25K doesn't even make a difference to them. My Si is paid off and I can afford the payment even if the price doesn't drop, no sweat! I would just prefer to get a better deal that's all..

I just didn't see any post from the OP that mentioned anything about having to stretch to make payments. For all we know he could have the whole amount in his checking account. I didn't see him mention any financing. From everything he's mentioned he's doing this right. Shopping for the best deal and figuring out how much more his total cost of ownership will be is how you're supposed to look for cars.

I can't understand why you need any convincing. You can't decide for yourself?

Then it sounds like you have everything in order, I say go buy the Z then.

As for waking up one day, yes it happens, only I saw that day coming, it was the day my kids started driving.

I feel like the only thing that's really holding me back is the fact that i wasn't too impressed when i first drove it, didn't feel that quick and the clutch just felt weird.. thats why i plan on driving it again this weekend to make a decision already

you're missing the vtec crossover and feeling the stock clutch helper spring (read this). trust me, try punching it from a roll in 2nd or 3rd, smooth shifting and you'll forget all about vtec.

It won't harm anything. If you leave it out and don't replace it with a softer spring, there's about a half inch of free play at the top of the clutch pedal stroke. Not a big deal. If it bothers you, there's a softer spring that's kind of a middle ground between stock and no spring at all.

Especially under the hood and the interior. That's worth a couple hundred bucks at least.
