Has anyone replace a transmission under warranty for noise and 2nd gear grind

The bearings on my transmission is getting extremely noisy. Has anyone been able to get it replaced under the warranty. I also have the nasty notch going into second almost every shift, just want to see if anyone in nor cal can help

Haven't had my transmission replaced but I recently had my transmission fluid replaced and the shifts are more smoother now. Maybe you can try changing if you haven't done it before looking into replacing trans.

When I was drag racing, half of the time I couldn't get my car into second gear. Common problem. I think it's a synchro defect/weekness. I decided to go to a friendly Niss. dealer who let me power shift second. He saw my problem & submitted it to his boss then to Nissan corp.

Two weeks later, my car received a new transmission. Trans. & labor covered by the warranty. Good idea to tip :)

Sorry no.

Nor Cal, I thought you were back east. I hope to encounter you without fuel starvation or a bad transmission. You will be in a better mood I am sure. :tiphat:

A co-worker of mine just scheduled a transmission replacement with Nissan. He was getting 1 to 2 gear grind. They will replace the transmission under warranty. He's just waiting for the tranny to arrive from japan IIRC. So, to answer your question yes.. is doable.

My tranny fluid has been swapped five times, I think the syncros are done. The throw out bearings had always been bad.

No I am in nor cal now. Fuel starvation is 10x worse due to the roads here

I almost backed out on buying my used Z because 1st sounds very noisy. Then I thought Fvckit, I am getting an 100K extended warranty anyway.

Nissan warranty is useless, they won't fix anything due to noise.

Then break it!

Can you describe the technique? I may need to execute this due to the intermittent grind with my '13 MT.

Thanks.
