Default DDMotorsports and Password:JDM - Product Development

The DoubleDownMotorsports.com Time Attack Project 370Z has been spending the past few weeks down at Password:JDM for some product development. For those who don't know who Password:JDM are, let me tell you they have some of the highest quality machined aluminum and dry carbon fiber products I have ever seen. I will admit I myself didn't know too much about them before I went down to their facility other than I knew that they made some seriously cool products for the S2000. They started mostly in the Honda world but now make products for many different cars. Their current focus lately has been on the new R35 GTR and the products they make for that car are insane. They also make dry carbon and machined parts for upscale exotics like Lamborghinis and I will say that the quality put into their Lamborghini parts is the exact same they put into their Honda Civic parts which is awesome.

So I dropped by to visit the 370Z the other day and snapped a few pics of what they are planning on making for the 370Z. Unfortuantely there wasn't much to take pictures of product wise since they are in the mold making phase but here are some teasers...

First, here is the car sitting in their facility where most of the business is run out of. They also have another building down the road that they do their dry carbon manufacturing at.

Second is a shot of some of the shift knobs they offer for other vehciles. They are machined aluminum and come in a variety of aftermarket colors as well as a choice of different color accent rings you can put in them. Makes for some pretty cool combos, my personal favorite being the Iron Man theme we made up on the far right hahaha. They will be custom making different shift knobs specifically for the 350Z/370Z/G35/G37 that will be largely the same as the ones pictured, but flared out at the bottom to cover the top of the boot like the stock knob does.

Third is a shot of the engine bay where you can see that they have a G37 engine cover installed. That is because they will be making a dry carbon engine cover and they liked how the G37 one covered more of the engine than the 370Z one. Their cover will be based loosely off of the shape of the G37 cover. The other engine cover in the pic is for an R35 GTR so you can see the quality of work they do.

Next is a Password:JDM oil cap which as you can see already fits. Their new engine cover will sit much lower than the G37 one so the oil cap wont be so sunk in. The oil cap is standard height.

Here they are starting to work on making modifications and markings on the stock battery/brake fluid covers so they can make dry carbon replacements for those as well. Their replacements will replace the entire plastic area with carbon fiber, not just the access doors.

And last but not least, just messing around with their universal aluminum tow hooks which also come in many colors. This one is just set on the plastic grille to show what it would look like but they would mount to the bumper beam with bolts. They do not screw into the stock tow hook mount.

They will also be making a carbon fiber radiator cooling panel for the car which will go all the way up to the top of the radiator support!

All of this stuff should be done by the end of the month when I am due to pick up the car again so stay tuned for more pics as these small projects get completed! Eventually the car will make its way back down there for another batch of new products as well! Maybe even a dry carbon hood

Would be sick if they made a GTR styled cover for the 370.

Agreed, but unfortunately, underneath the engine cover, our engine is much uglier than the GTRs and doesn't have the individual intake runners to make that style work.

Yeah our Stock intake looks like a freaking plastic waffle Iron, it's pretty retarded looking.

I love PJDM, so I can't wait to see what they come out with!

I think something could work if they had the runners go all the way across, this would cover up the ugly engine and look completely different then stock. Just need to make it clear the strut bar.

A true enthusiast would make the strut bar clear the aftermarket intake manifold, then make the hood clear the aftermarket strut bar. Muaha.

CF, inside cabin, center console bits would be nice. Currently the plastic arm rest and bits around the shifter are marking up pretty easily.

Beautiful work. I'm glad they are paying special attention to the specific shift knob needs of the 370.

Password:JDM has requested a bit more time with the 370Z so instead of picking it back up from them today, I will get it back from them next week, on the 4th. Talks of a possible harness bar are in the works.
