Default Is that a Z? No it's a Porsche

Just a random thought I am throwing out there. When my wife first took the Z to work, someone asked her if it was a Porsche. I just laughed it off. Well we were just on vacation and a Porsche drove by and my wife (who knows about cars) says, "is that a Z?". Im like, NO WAY, THATS A PORSCHE.
Well, the girl in the passenger side of the Porsche was checking out my car as they passed, and I gotta feeling she said to her significant other; "is that a Porsche?"

I know a lot of us get upset when people ask, if our cars are a 350, or 370, or some other random car. How would you feel driving in a $100,000 or more Porsche and someone ask you if that was your Nissan.....
It just made me laugh thinking about it, and I am sure it happens

If that was me all I'd say is they're ignorant and just don't know and then move on. Won't get my banana all twirled up.

This is the common question. Very oddly I was asked that about my Jag E type by a young lady. She thought it complementary.

When ever i talk to cayman owner's 3 out of 5 always say i almost bought a 370z before this thing and i reply i almost got a cayman before i looked at the insurance difference between the two. I love porsche's but my pockets aren't that deep for the maintenance and insurance.

Take the Z and pocket the difference. Big differences in annual depreciation, costs of maintenance and repair, insurance, etc. all make the 370Z the hands down "better value" choice. No contest for most consumers. Of course, if you're a Porsche fan, well then it's a different story. Not for me, though.

My insurance is cheaper on the Cayman than the Z..................oil changes every 10k miles...........I dont know but my pockets arent that deep and the Porsche so far has proven to be the cheaper car to own. They also gave me a 4 year 60k warranty on it in relation to the 3 year 36k for the Z.

Oh and my wife knew the differance before we bought either of them. She laughs when people ask me if my Z is a Porsche but no one has mistaken the Porsche for a Z yet. Seriously doubt it will happen either.

I dont know how years young you are, but USAA gave me a quote for the cayman of almost $300 a month and the Z I pay w/ a 2nd car on there $180 a month with a perfect record and i am 27.

But i still get nice 350 or "what kind of porsche is that?" than nice 370...

10K mile oil change intervals. Really. This is surprising as much as cheaper operating cost.

Neat you have both to compare.

I think its the wide rear that throws people off. Porsche has been doing it for so many years (older 911 Carreras etc) that people see the Z34 and immediately think Porsche) I know I always loved the wide hips of the old Porsches and that was a big part of the visual appeal of the Z for me.

My female friend said my z looked like a Porsche because it looked so "aggressive." I told her Nissans beat Porsches and I don't take it personally
