My insurance is cheaper on the Cayman than the Z..................oil changes every 10k miles...........I dont know but my pockets arent that deep and the Porsche so far has proven to be the cheaper car to own. They also gave me a 4 year 60k warranty on it in relation to the 3 year 36k for the Z.

Oh and my wife knew the differance before we bought either of them. She laughs when people ask me if my Z is a Porsche but no one has mistaken the Porsche for a Z yet. Seriously doubt it will happen either.

I dont know how years young you are, but USAA gave me a quote for the cayman of almost $300 a month and the Z I pay w/ a 2nd car on there $180 a month with a perfect record and i am 27.

But i still get nice 350 or "what kind of porsche is that?" than nice 370...

10K mile oil change intervals. Really. This is surprising as much as cheaper operating cost.

Neat you have both to compare.

I have a Cayman S and 370z Sport. Insurance through progressive. They way I figure it is there must be too many kids driving Zs and cracking them up where as with Porsches it mostly older folks that drive them. When I go to club meetings I am about the youngest there and I am 49. I do not have a perfect driving record by any means.

Tazicon, my insurance carrier has the Cayman S approx 35% higher, so I guess it's company dependent. On Oahu, the automotive repair shops dislike Progressive due to late payments and contesting repair costs. Hopefully in Vegas their much better. By the way at 49, you are a young man

Back on topic, yes I have had an elderly couple tell me "nice Porsche".

One of my coworkers asked me today if it had a 4 banger in it. I was so offended, one of my buddies was like its ok...take a deep breath it's gonna be ok.
It was a good laugh!!

On the topic of insurance...I hated that mine jumped from $82/month in the 350 up to $142/month in the 370. 26 yr old, perfect driving record, and Mil discount through the Gecko.

My Z has also been mistaken for a P car...a victimless crime.

A few weeks back I had an older and retired Navy "O" compliment me on the Z. He knew exactly what it was and proceeded to tell me about his days of enjoying Z cars in Japan. I was late for work and had zero F's to give.

Dad's a 997S driver. I tell him the 370z is the best looking Porsche ever made.

Also, we are faster than caymens.

If we want to spend 911 money, we can get a GTR instead.

Porsche doesn't build race cars anymore. It's the new corvette.

I don't know why people get offended that some people think it's a 350. At least they know it's Z and it is our heritage. Some people couldn't tell the difference between a Celica and F430...

When people ask if it's a 350, I simply say no it's actually the 370. That is usually met with an "Oh so its faster" or "Bigger engine!".

370 doesn't roll off the tongue like 350 does. I vote 380 for next model
