Cover Everyday?
I park in a parking garage at work, but the car will be outside at home for the non-winter months near/under trees. Does it make sense to cover it everyday or am I asking for more trouble with potential surface scratches from putting it on and taking it off so frequently? I was just curious to find out what others are doing to protect their cars that don't have a garage.

It's worth it if you keep your cover CLEAN. I have done this ever since I had too many cars to fit in the garage. Mine is lightweight cotton/poly blend with a nappy finish inside (custom made by my wife), and it gets washed in a commercial laundromat every two-three weeks. After 3 years on her Mercedes SLK the finish is still scratch & swirl-free.

Get a portable garage that closes in on the sides to keep the pollen out. I would never put something on my car like a cover. I don't care if its made out of silk. Its not the material that causes the problems its any debris that gets stuck between the cover and the car. Its impossible to have a perfectly clean contact between the cover and the car.

I live in a condo so I keep my Z covered with a car cover except on the weekends when I'm out driving it. When I first bought it I had the clearbra installed over the entire front bumper, full hood, and full fenders. So far, it has turned out well.

Cover it, it will protect your paint from the outside elements!

Just received mine.$179 for cover and $6.99 for a storage bag. With shipping from Calif to New Jersey total was $200.97! So if you are closer it will be even less.Top quality and a real fair price! Of course Nissan has one but after learning about the paint issues I've been having and everyone else I don't trust Nissan with there cheap junk. They over charge for everything and the quality is 3rd best as far as I'am concerned.Just me 2 cents! Its not about keeping the car perfectly clean obviously since you do drive it around, etc. Its about keeping the elements off it - dust, pollen, etc can stick to the paint, etch and grind into it. I just depends on what you want your car to look like. I'm just assuming people asking about protecting their car are interested in keeping it looking its best. IMHO putting a cover that touches the car and grinds whatever is floating in the air into the paint is a bad idea. You wont get debris sticking/etching or acid rain, etc onto it as much but you will be grinding whatever is on top of the paint down into the clear coat.

I've got a pearl white Z as well and I cover mine with a generic car cover I bought from PepBoys for $50. I don't remember the brand, but it was one of two they had in stock.
My Z stays outside in my driveway every day under two big trees that the birds LOVE to sit on. The cover has taken somewhat of a beating between the bird $hit, sap and pollen, but in the 2 months I've had the car, the paint has not been affected whatsoever. Granted, I wax the car monthly and wash the crap off the cover weekly (i.e., every time I wash the car itself). And like Alexus said, it's impossible to keep the car perfectly clean anyway...unless of course you put your car in a vacuum-sealed box and leave it there forever.

I purchased my cover from Pep Boys for $79.99 and it works great. It's 4-layered and I have had no issues. Make sure u get a size larger than the 350z. I cover my car everyday and it's only driven on nice days. Before I put the cover on I wipe down the car with a dust remover. I've had my car for about 2 months and have probably waxed it 17 times. I even have the Clear Bra from the fenders forward. Taken care of the paint will pay off, especially in the long run. I learned that from my Benz.
