There are hall sensors to determine what location the shifter is in. The location is sent to the ECM and then goes to the gear indicator. To me, it sounds

There are hall sensors to determine what location the shifter is in. The location is sent to the ECM and then goes to the gear indicator. To me, it sounds like the sensor pack is bad, so the ECM does not "read" the shifter location. This should be covered under warranty (if still covered).
