Enjoy the vette. I ruled the Vette out as an option after driving my pals Z06. I always THOUGHT the Vette would be my dream car as my father had two, but as it turns out the blue 240Z sitting in my neighbors driveway when I was only 3 is what really ended up be my dream car (not the 240 per say, just the Z car).
Have fun with your Vette! |

All this talk about "tired" design...the Z has essentially been the same since '03. The C6 went through a significant re-design in '05, much more so than the Z34 over the Z33. |

Anyhow good luck with your new Vette. Personally if I was going into that territory I'd be getting a Z06. But then again if I had any inkling that way I WOULD have bought a Z06.... but the Z really is my dream car. The Corvette is one of the only American cars I like.

Thank you all for the good wishes.
Even the few sarcastic comments were taken in stride. I chose the coupe over the Z06 for 2 reasons:
For those saying the Vette is stale or dated, I think you are crazy. Vettes, like Zs and Porsches etc..., evolve slowly. These cars have loyal fan bases that don't want drastic change. 911s have looked the same for 40 years for g-d's sake. I also agree that interior is the weak point for the Vette. The thing is that when you mash the go pedal, you just go!!! It makes you forget the interior .

BTW, I do wish the Vette had the seats from the Z. The seats really are the weak point.
But, from a performance perspective, the Vette is a big step up from the Z. Not even a race. The Z does have better steering feel (especially with the Sport package), but the Vette just has much higher limits, even with its dated rear suspension setup. I think that is evident from the price differential. Again, I'm a huge fan of the Z, amazing what Nissan was able to do at this price point. Just different strokes for different folks. Also, the new GranSport trim will be great, but I just don't think the $10k premium is worth the wide body and Z06 brakes. I prefer the base coupe looks over the Z06. To answer the pricing question, my Z listed for $41.8k and the real value today was between $30-$32k. Because of my problems and dealer damaging the car (plus my friendship with the GM) we were able to get substantially higher dollars. I only lost $1100 of wwhat I actually paid. I can live with that. Again, I want to thank everyone on this board. Very well informed and thoughtful folks. Thanks

When I was 11, I saw the StingRay and fell in love with it.......Corvettes rock! Have fun with it.
P.S., You mentioned about 911's. Perhaps, you should do what I did---I kept my 911s with my Z. cheers and, again, good luck. |
