According to a friend who used to work at a dealership a few years ago, it's a gimmick to "motivate" (i.e. scare) the customer to bring in the car for a check, usually ranging from $30 to $50 dollars. I had a Maxima prior to my Z, and the "check engine soon" light came on; I paid a visit to that friend; he just popped the hood open, stuck his hand deep in the engine bay, and told me to check the light...Presto! The light had gone out! THAT'S what they charge you for, guys! On another case, my mother's '96 Ford Escort has had that light on for about 5-6 years now, with NO consequences at all. You decide.

So you recommend doing nothing for a check engine light.

No. Since I'm not a mechanic, I can't recommend either way. I just gave you 2 experiences I've had (my ex-car, the Maxima, and my mother's Escort). "You decide", quoting myself, amigo.

Hello guys,

I need help. I have a p0456 code (small evap leak). This may not be a problem with Americans since your cars are under warranty, I imported my car from the states to asia so my local Nissan dealers don't cover it. besides, they are unfamiliar with the 370z since it has yet to come out locally.

my question is, can anyone tell me which part to replace in order for me to fix this? part number please?

Note: I've cleared the code a few times already and making sure the gas cap is always tight but it still comes back.

THANKS!

check Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com, order from there or get the PN and get it from your dealer.

thank you so much for the link, sir. This will prove to be very useful.

Would you or anyone know which part is involved in this defect? (SES p0456)
I don't want to have to replace parts unnecessarily. Is there info on which parts the dealership usually replace?

THANKS!

^^^^ Or is this a generic defect and I'll just bring my car to the dealership and let them figure this out? (I'll have to pay for it tho instead of warranty, which is just fine)
