Thumbs up

My story is different it's a little interesting. Two weeks after the 370z came out in the market my boy happens to be the "sales director" told me that 370z finally came out. So the next day I went and check it out. I was like "damn" it really looks different compare to what you see in the internet. My plan is to trade in my 07 Evo IX GSR, my boy said "don't they will buy the car cheap", so I thought about it and decided not to do it. My boy let me test drive 3 cars that day first the nismo 350z, then after 370z 6sp, at last 370z 7sp. There all fast but when I saw the truck delivering more 370z in the lot I asked my boy is there any blue one and he said there's none, and so my boy check out the inventory list for what other colors they have, and he told me its your lucky day!! The blue 370z is out in the mall for a display and that's the only blue one they have and it's 7sp/st-mode. It was Friday night when i decided to buy it but the mall won't release the car till Monday morning so I said OK get it out of there and I'll come back for it, they said in order for them to do that they want to make sure that I'm gonna buy the car, because they will have to pay extra just to get the car out of there, so I put $3k down and they will refund it when I get the car. I told myself what am I gonna drive over the weekend if you guys want to finish the paperwork's now, basically same thing as saying "the car is sold but you're not gonna have it till Monday morning", I said no way, so my boy talked the owner of the dealership about it and he came out and said "lets finish the paperworks' now and we'll let you pick one of our 10 370z in the lot for you to use over the weekend and when you come back, your car will be ready by then and I said "awesome". Now its time for the paperwork's! The prize of the car $31595 (msrp), my boy cut it to $31k flat rate and that's the net plus he took off $4k out of it, so it came out to $27k then I thought that's it but I was wrong my boy said "since you are the first buyer of the 370z, I will give you 5 year extended warranty + 5 year maintenance for free if you're going to buy the GAP insurance from us which is about $500-$800 in you pocket", so I said "nice" add it to the car. So overall after tax + licenses + APR + GAP insurance the car came out to $32k flat, basically I didn't loose (maybe I did $405 to be exact) because the actual prize of the car is $31595 overall I still won, I didn't have to pay for the 5 year extended warranty + 5 year maintenance + Gap insurance plus the car that I used over that weekend (no charge at all fully refunded back to me). Isn't this an amazing story I'm glad my boy is the sales director of Capitol Nissan.

my story began a while back when i first started reading about the Z in auto magazines and how great it preformed, but mind you when i first saw the pictures i didnt think it was that attractive, but when i went to a dealer to just check it out first hand that whole mindset flipped a complete 180 degrees. i said to myself i gotta get this car. technically i never had "my own car" i always drove our extra house hold car which was a 07 Navigator or sometimes my brothers 08 Maxima. so when i saw this Z i said it was time to buy my own car. so then i started to shop around an didnt no where since i couldnt find the color, package, and price i wanted, then i gave up looking for a couple weeks then i realized one of our family friends works at a nissan dealer an he hooked me up. 5 days later after i gave him a call the car was delivered to my house.

Went to the movie and saw the commercial for the 370z. I decided that I wanted this car. Right away, I searched around for information and found upon the the370z.com. I learned about the invoice and Robert's VPP program. Talked to several local dealers through phone and email about invoice prices. I set up a time I would come in and talk to them. I asked the dealer to order the car that I wanted and put down a deposit.

That was more than 2 months ago. I haven't pick up the car yet and haven't test drive any 370z.

Me too! I still have the vette though, because I do love it, just not as much as I loved my 350z during track days. Oh yeah, I also am keeping the Vette because my powdercoating business is centered on Corvette brake calipers, and it does very well, partly because I am a fellow owner and not just a regular forum sponsor.

I've had 4 240Zs, a 300TT, and a preorder 350. When I saw the 370 in person for the first time at Zdayz this year, I knew I had to have one, and I actually bought it the day after I got back home from that trip.

I always liked the definition of a sports car that said it was a car where the only things on it were things that helped it go fast. IIRC it was said in reference to a Cobra 289. But in today's world, filled with luxo barges, SUV's, trucks, hybrids and rice-mobiles, I think the Z is a throwback to that ethic. There are not many manufacturers making pure sports cars. Everything is a GT, heavy with cuddly amenities, add-on electric motors, and dozens of CPU's.

I'm not sure how many more pure sports cars we'll see as the world moves to shiny happy green boxes. I wanted to grab mine while I could. I really wanted a Cayman, but after I drove the Z I thought it was much more visceral and fun than the Cayman (just my humble opinion, no slam on the Cayman). Nice to save some money and get exactly what I wanted! Very happy camper!

That's not a sign. It's called marketing lol.

I always wanted a sport car but didn't have the funds till recently. So before now i had a slow *** standard lancer (not evo), went through 3 motorbikes till i finally arrived in the position to buy the Z. I also considered s2000, sti or evo but liked the look of the Z the most out of all these options. First time i saw the Z on the net to be honest wasn't sure if i liked it but then kept looking at it and it grew on me. Seeing it in person i was instantly hooked! Photos just dont do it justice. Can't wait for pick up which should be end of next week ^^

Why did you buy your 370?
Late last fall we started looking to replace two cars -- my wife's 3rd generation TL, which had a couple Carfax items on it (not her fault), and my 98 Yukon.

The first idea was to try to get a pair of configurations that would be more practical/useful for a couple empty-nesters. So I spent time looking at Infinitis. The G35/37 models were conventional -- no different from her TL. The FX was crudely, overtly masculine ... and didn't offer anything we hadn't had in a Mercedes ML before. The EX, sized at about 7/8ths as big as an FX, seemed to fit the bill. BUT in six months of looking, I couldn't find one within 1500 miles of me on the East Coast that didn't have 4WD.

Along the way, I got to like what I'd learned about the VQ engines.

Finally it came down to a radical decision -- we really didn't need a crossover/SUV. In fact, we really didn't need a back seat at all (for one of the cars). So I started for the first time seriously considering a Z. (At 50+, there may not be enough time left if I wait.

The wife thought I wasn't serious at first, then as she saw that I was, we'd have conversations that would go --> She: "Completely Impractical!" Me: "That's Not The Point!" (She had never driven a sports car.)

We spent a lot of time going over past decisions. One lucky stroke for me was we got an overstock.com quote on a 2009 Acura TL, and happened to be by the dealer where we'd gotten her 3rd gen TL. (But we were actually at the dealer that day evaluating whether to replace the Yukon with an Acura RDX.) I showed our salesman the numbers I had on an 09 TL from overstock.com, and he quietly said "We can do that."

So on April 30th we bought her a Royal Blue TL with "tech", and the numbers worked out so it was $8-10K in our favor from when we'd been by there back in December '08.

With that car change out of the way, the wife stopped making comments about the Z. But it still took a few weeks to locate and obtain the color combo I wanted -- which was eventually flatbedded up from VA for $275. Robert Nash's VPP pricing in this forum helped by a couple hundred bucks. I also deliberately chose to get an automatic. (I didn't want to teach her how to drive a stick on my car, yet I also didn't want to shut her out of the driver's seat.

At that point we still had the old Yukon sitting outside, but I'd been watching progress on the "clunker" bill all year. Just last week I finally selected/traded for a Honda Element (w/ AWD) we'll be picking up next week. (Both Yukon and the E are "type 1 trucks" in the federal regs, so it's a $4500 credit.) The Yukon is already gone. We didn't plan on finishing out this year with three new 2009 cars, but already are planning to do all our City driving with the E (to save the two better cars).

There will be photos in my gallery soon of the 3 titled "Which is not like the others?" I don't think we could have come up with a wider array of configurations -- my 2-door RWD sports car, her 4-door FWD highway cruiser, and a 1 1/2 (suicide door) AWD box that uses regular gas. Well, yes -- I miss not having a stick, and if I could have found an Element in inventory anywhere with 2WD and a manual, that might have worked out.)

I still see threads here about people buying their first car as a Z, and hope they've got easy access to some kind of bulk mover, too. 95% of my driving these days, I don't need a cargo or people hauler, but the one week delay before getting the E is holding up some Home Depot stuff I'd otherwise be bringing home.
