Potenza tires make nails expensive!

I haven't even made the first payment on my car yet, and I already have to pay $470 to replace one rear tire because of a nail on the inside

I had SO3's on my previous car and had to get it patched. It never held pressure for more than 2 weeks, they had 3 goes at fixing it to no avail.

I had a patch on a Nitto Invo on my G, lasted 20k miles until I bought a new set, guess you were a bit unlucky.

Same happened to me, Nissan wanted to charge $400. At the time NO ONE had the tire in stock.

Talk about unlucky. I had another puncture in the same tire about 3 weeks later and to my amazement the object that caused it went through the plug from the original puncture. The chances of that are a million to one. However, you could say I was lucky in this case as I didn't have another hole in my tire.

I've never heard of a reputable shop plugging or patching a sidewall.

can't patch a side wall....lol

only if the thread gets a nail/screw/etc, it can be patched.

they take a grinder to the inner part of the tire, glue on a patch...done.

I would guess that the tire was on the right rear? One easy way to get a nail is going off on the shoulder to get around someone making a left turn. The nails all wind up there with the rest of the road debris.

Good grief.....how much will a repair be on my RE-11's? I need tires like Speed Racer had.....you never saw him on the side of the road with the jack out!
