BTW, I highly recommend the NT05's, sticky as all hell, the grip is AMAZING!

all 4 or for 2? I went with the stock tire and bought it at a Goodyear store. Since it was a flat repair, I didn't have time to order it on tirerack.com or somewhere else cheaper which is about $250/tire instead of $400.

for 2. $200 bucks apiece, wider/stickier, weird how that works.

Sorry for your loss but...

they couldnt patch it? $470 seems a bit steep bro, where did you get it?

can't patch it because it is on the wall of the tire. I took it to the dealer I bought the car from.

Potenzas are ridiculously over priced and really don't show me anything. You got raped a bit more than normal because you went to the dealer. Even a regular tire store could have gotten you one for about 300-350. When mine are worn out I'm going rim shopping and will probably just throw on some Nittos or Hancooks.

I was reluctant to go to the dealer, but I was hoping they would take care of me a little more than they did. I most likely will never go back there for repairs unless I have a warranty issue.

iceman21_23 08-13-2009 01:56 AM

i have tire insurance through discount tire... the initial 200 dollars +68 dollars for the new tire to be insured

gleonard 08-13-2009 02:05 AM

My new tire will be insured, but the intial tires that come with the car have no "road hazard" warranties.

that sucks man, i had 2 nails in my Potenzas (runflats) i got by plugging one and the other one didnt go all the way through i dont think, but yeah in a sidewall nothing you can do really. when i bought my replacement set of tires at the dealer they said i had road hazard on them so im gonna hold them to it as im a nail magnet for some reason

OUCH!

.... this sounds EXACTLY like the same scenario my dealership presented me yesterday. "I'm sorry, the nail went through the tire close enough to the side wall that we aren't able to repair it. It'll be around $500 to have it drop shipped from Nissan and installed by this afternoon."

These Potenzas just love nails huh? Either that, or we have the worst luck ever. Mine happened on my rear driver side. :(

MC 08-13-2009 03:17 AM

for future reference guys get your potenzas here instead of the dealer or atleast try to have the dealer price match

$470-500 for a that tire is robbery even at say $50 to install

$212 plus shipping

It's actually $293 plus shipping, but it's a minor difference compared to the the $429 my dealership tried to charge me.

The Potenzas come on the 19" Rays Engineering sport package wheels. :p

FYI, guys... they do make a patch now that will handle the sidewall. Not many shops have it (very few even know about it) as it only came out a few years back. I was getting a patch done on my S while in central Florida in late 2006. The guy said he had just attended a training session and the company provided them with a kit to do sidewalls... he said everyone in his team said 'no way' it would work, but they used a nail gun to repeatedly puncture a truck's sidewall, and then patched each one. something about the material the plug was made of combined with its shape allowed it to stay put and keep air in.

Granted, I'm not saying I'd put it in the sidewall of a Z-rated tire and try to drive 130 mph for two hours on the highway, I'm just saying it does exist and it's an option.
