Removable Hard Top
why doesnt Nissan make the 350Z/370Z with a removable hard top? something similar to what the Corvette does, and the Lotus too? i dont really like the soft top/convertible, but it seems to me that a removable hard top would be a very good option.
my apologies if this has been discussed at length before. Mike |

A nice solid targa top would be great, but I think to much of the market turned away from it in favor of a hard top convertible now. Plus it requires extra structural engineering I believe, but if they did make it...I would be all over it and probably take the hit on my current Z.

The vette and Lotus frames are designed to not use the roof as part of their structural integrity, the Z isn't. That's why it adds an extra 200lbs of support parts for the roadster. You would have to do that for a targa top as well.

Probably the curved roof design makes them difficult? I know I wished this thing at least had a sun/moon roof, but oh well.

I'm not just talking about T-tops for the Z, but T-tops in general. I don't think there is a car out right now that has them. I used to have them on my 91 MR2, and while they did eventually start to leak, I did like them.
