There are thousands of other topics to talk about..... and legal venues and motorsports discussions are encouraged.

:iagree:

it only takes a split second for a dumb kid to make a hypothetical to reality and selfishly kill someone on the street. such context dont belong here.

and it sounds stupid to begin with. thus the mocking posts from me. :shakes head:

Again, easily dealt with. Moreover, the issue of the theme of the thread versus a little bit of context matters and would be an easy and helpful measure.

I guess I think the notion of someone killing themselves because the mods used a little more discretion before closing a thread is either hyperbole or a red herring. I think folks are taking the presence of "hypothetical" to an illogical, unnecessary, and not intended extreme. I don't argue with the explanation that was ultimately given (again I point out),but some of the other discussion has been off target to incompletely reasoned.

1) Discussing street racing is against the rules. Doesn't matter whether or not I (or anybody else) like it, that's The Rules as set by the owner. If one doesn't like it, one is free to use a site that allows such things or start one's own site.

2) As far as I can tell, the mods are volunteers and probably don't have the time to carefully parse every statement in every post. If it looks like a duck, they shoot it. I've admin'd and mod'd on several sites - it's not a fun job and can demand a lot of one's time.

3) Personally, I think a few threads have been needlessly/prematurely locked, but then I refer myself to item #1. I suppose if I felt strongly enough about a particular thread getting locked, I'd send a polite PM about it to a mod.

I don't think street racing should be discussed here. That was never my point.

I expressed my appreciation for the mods and the very reasonably reply provided.

PMs are fine, except where one is inviting a thoughtful discussion, which is why it was inappropriate for me to send a PM.

I can see where this thread is going. There is only one way SouthArk370Z and H2O_Doc can settle this: a street race.

I didn't word that very well. :( I should have made #1 a general statement and not about street racing in particular.

It was meant for general consumption and not directed at you. The subject is certainly worthy of discussion and you make some good points.

Yes, but on foot to keep it legal and the thread open.

I'm guessing that my friend, being from Arkansas, goes at least 320lbs (all that white gravy). Bring it Razorback.
