So is there a unanimous choice for the best car cover?
Which car cover are you guys using, and are you happy?
|
Personally I like the Noah fabric, but it totally depends on your needs. These guys have a selection to meet them all:

I've been using a cover from PepBoys. It's breathable and waterproof, does a great job protecting the car from UV, rain, snow. I generally change it every 2-3 years depending on how dirty it gets. The main problem for me is the microfiber undercloth, while very soft and great at picking up small leaves and stuff off the surface of the car, leaves behind white "dust" that I have to Swiffer off. It's really only bad cause I have a Magnetic Black car :P They run about $130 because you need to get the SUV-C size since the normal car cover size recommended on the box for a Z doesn't fit. But the SUV-C is perfect.

Also notice I have a Nismo wing on the rear, which is bigger than the factory spoiler and he cover still fits fine. In fact, even if you put on the raised-up Nismo wing, given how much room the rear of my cover has it would still fit. |
Ive been using this carcover Evolution® and its worked great, being in the Navy and leaving my car in a parking lot for a month or two at a time I needed a tough cover that would take everything SoCal can throw at it. When I pull in and take my cover off I have a clean car.

NOAH and Evolution, both are made by CoverCraft and are about $200. Can anyone recommend one over the other?

A lot of it will depend on what your requirements are for a cover. I need one to cover my car during the day in an outdoor parking lot in the SouCal sun. The car is garaged at night. I had a Covercraft Weathershield cover for my Infiniti G35 that was used almost daily for 4 years when parked outside at my place of employment. It did a really good job of keeping the dust off the car as there was a lot of construction going on nearby for about a year. It's also breathable and doesn't trap moisture underneath and was effective at keeping the sun from beating down on the paint and upholstery. The trick is keeping a good coat of wax on your car and using something like a California Car Duster to remove dust before covering it. The Covercraft covers are custom fit which in my opinion is important in breezy conditions. The generic size and cheap material covers will buffet and rub on the paint on any high edges. The Covercraft Weathershield also will roll up into a very compact package, important in a car like a Z with very limited storage space.
That model is not weatherproof, in other words not for use to keep rain off of the car if it's not to be driven for a while for example. I just bought another Covercraft Weathershield for my 370Z and it fits perfectly. I expect similar good service from it. The downside ? They are not cheap. I paid about $275 including the little storage bag. Check Covercraft's website, it has pretty good comparison charts for it's different models showing what their strengths and weaknesses are depending on what you need out of the cover. |
i had forgotten that i had ordered one from nissan 2 months ago till i seen this thread, i wonder why it is taking so long, damn

The NOAH seems to be better for all-weather applications - probably good for NJ winters. I think I'll end up with this one. Now to find the best price....
FYI - in case anyone was thinking about the Evolution one, I found it at theZstore.com for $150. |
Just ordered an Evolution.
