Yeah...Unless there's a particular sensor to pick up on an impending failure, this would be completely invisible to the computer. This is often the case with purely mechanical failures, which this would seem to be..

Gotcha...I thought it was "ON" vs "OUT" the exhaust. Hopefully, you'll find an answer to what caused this. Not only is this a major issue but a potentially dangerous one.

Hope all works out for you in the end!

Ok...so took the advice in this thread and check my oil lol....and this is what I found...

I did an oil change at 3700 miles to synthetic Redline.

Dipstick after change read as...

L o--------|------o H

Now at 6500 Miiles it reads...

L o--|------------o H

Seems normal to me....not sure how much the change in oil level (the two slashes) relates to in quarts but it doesn't seem like much. Looks normal right?

Edit: Fixed the spacing...had to add dashes...forum doesnt input spaces

Still indicates some burning of oil. More than I'd like, IMO.

Doesn't seem toooo bad for 3000k miles or so....could be worse I guess.

The posts about oil consumption sound high, do these motors use that much oil? I am used to seeing almost no oil loss in my vehicles.
On the bright side, at least the z isnt burning thru pistons like the 2008 WRX Sti did!
.

well I might be using my lunch break to go check my oil level now, lol.

It just so happens that I checked my oil this morning (not as a result of this thread -- just decided to check it). 2000 miles since my last oil change, and I was able to top it off with just a third of a quart. No biggie, IMO. The oil level was about 3/5 to H. I almost just left it without topping it off. My '06 350Z went through 1 quart every 600 miles. Now THAT stupid thing had issues! (And yes, I am aware of the recall on that POS RevUp engine.)

Man I hope this isn't a recurring problem.

That's great for 3,000,000 miles! :happydance:

I bet thats what the Rev-Up guys thought :wtf2:

All of this is happening to some of our members during the break in period? wow, this most be a sticky thread just for tutorial or reference purposes.
Also, if Fusz could provide a well chronological thread showing what happened instead of reading and looking allover this thread, it would be great. Also, the other member having this problems please write more because this could avoid some issues with other members.

Time to have some fun with your engine Lou!!! Sorry it had to come about this way however.

I am used to checking oil, I DRIVE A ROTARY!! That will not be a big change for me.

Red370 08-11-2009 01:23 PM

So 3k seems to be the breaking point, I just hit 2, so basically I need to monitor my oil levels consistently until I change it out... gotcha!
