1962 E-TYPE JAGUAR 3.8. Great car wish I could have kept and restored it. It was a gift from my grandfather. It only had 17000 miles on it when he gave it to me in 1980.

I also owned a 1978 Datsun 280z. Great car but for the rust.


I now own a 2010 base 370z with with 12000 miles. I purchased it new in 2010 for 5000,00 below msrp.
I was looking at pre- owned Cayman's and 911's

I enjoy my 370 but for the paint quality and the base radio.

The 370z was the only sport car I owned :)

Would love to get my hands on a M3 or a Porche (I'll be "ok" with a Boxster S).

What I've owned in the past 9 years. Just have the 370z now.

Things I remember: Scriocco: burned out a spark plug cable about every 6 months(new coil made no diff), constanly had to pull one off, one at a time and figure out which one it was, like finding a bad Xmas bulb, top speed 102 MPH. RX-7: always started with a puff of blue smoke causing observers to tell me something was wrong with my car. Got real light on its feet at 110 MPH. 93 MR2T: Easiest oil change ever. With oil filter on top, poke a hole in it with nail, then lie next to rear passenger wheel and reach up and remove oil plug behind tire and slid pan under it. No ramp or sliding under car. Solid at 120MPH. 2001 Mustang, no real back seat, no trunk, but never had a lick of trouble in 9 years. Raw, but seem to have more than 270HP listed. 2009 370Z, worse paint of any of the above.

I guess everyone probably has their own definition of what constitutes a sports car vs. a sporty car. Here is my own personal break down:

Sports Cars:

1983 280ZX Turbo 5MT - The only 2 seater turbo with a manual trans I have ever seen in my area. Sold her to another Z enthusiast, last I heard she was living in AZ.

2008 350Z 6MT Base - Sold it to an ex-GF. She let her 18 y/o son drive it against my advice. Car didn't last long.

2010 370Z 6MT 40th Annv. - Current car. Did not intend it to be a daily driver but can't resist the temptation to reach for the FOB every morning.

Sporty Cars:

1980 200SX 5MT - My first car and first automotive love. She was 3 yrs old when I got her, she was red and had this cool joystick for the balance/fade

1987 Dodge Shelby Charger Turbo 5MT - insane torque steer and frequent trips to the service dept.

1987 Pulsar NX - debated whether to even include this POS. Took the gfriend of the time with me to the dealership. The wrong one of my brains made this decision. Even God hated this car and totalled it in a tornado.

1990 240SX SE 5MT - Loved the looks and handling of this car, espcially after being in the FWD cars. Litterally drove her until the wheels came off.
