HR or 370?
Had a discussion with a friend last night.
He was saying stock for stock the HR is faster than a 370 That the 370 was heavier (numbers for the curb weight online are all over the place, he said.) and that it was overrated crank hp What you guys think? (Yeah I know 370's are HR too but 350HR vs 370) |
No

Oh god; I've seen this argument so many times over at my350z.com when I was shopping for a Z. I guess my purchase speaks for itself.
edit: Do they think Nissan would make an inferior replacement? |
I don't know of a single 370 N/A z dd that can touch my 08 350z. However I saw your record holder the day he did that 12.2 record run & I'm almost sure I can't touch that. I also think that in stock form or moded the 370z has apx. a 20h.p advantage & some higher rpm advantage.
I believe a 370z is a little bit lighter as well. However I do love the 350z hr 4 camshaft engine. It doesn't get hot & is almost indestructible. |

Are you saying 1/4 mile? If so, what's your 1/4 mile time? (Slip please) and what are your mods? (Interior ripped out is a mod too) |
He doesn't know of "A SINGLE 370Z N/A that can touch his car". That's a big statement.

I'm sorry

I hold the 350z.com 1/4 record at 12.419. I held their record & broke it maybe seven times in the last 3-1/2 years since I started drag racing it. I also won that September 22 Atco meet n/a heads up class last year. There was no 350z or 370z even close to me. That was done with my 3:90 gears, not my current 4:08's & it was pretty much my first time at the track in many, many months because of the car getting caught by an overflowing river that covered it with ten feet of water:) Storm Irene. It was almost totally rewired after getting totaled, then bought from the insurance company. I have no problem doing 12.4's all day long. I also have only a few mods. Stock exhaust & intakes. Still I did say that the 370 has a h.p advantage as well as rpm & handling. Oh, I don't know a single daily driver 370z N/A that's close to my car. If there is one, I'd like to know so not to post that again. Thanks. |
HR's, from what I've seen, have really low drivetrain loss... I've seen stock 370s dyno at 271
|
From everything I've read, the 370 is lighter than the 350.

Thought it was 100lbs+, base vs. base. Curb weight of a base 370 is 3232lbs. What's a 350?
|
Post your time slip. I want to see STOCK FOR STOCK. And btw, these 350 vs. 370 vs. 300 threads are quite puerile. Get over it. I, personally couldn't care less. I'm only responding because this is total garbage.
"I guess I thought that people know me." - Son, I don't know you, never heard of you and I don't give a crap about you. So please, before you get over "it", get over yourself. |

This a STOCK to STOCK comparison NOT who's got the fastest Z Keep it on topic!! |

Google has a 2008 350z at 3320 lbs. So the 370 is lighter, has more power and more tire under the rear. What was the question again?

The rest was to explain the other stuff that was brought up. |
G35 ftw

Never have heard of you. Never have heard of anyone named "andre12031948", and something tells me that that's a pretty unique name. That being said, doesn't matter to me which is faster. The 370 looks the part, therefore is better. That's my logic and I'm sticking to it. |
It was rated at more power. I feel like an Auto 370 would lose to a standard HR

IMO, the 370Z looks faster. I know because I had an '03 350Z for 6 years.

The original 350Z had a VQ35DE motor making 287HP, the VQ35HR revs higher, has 2 intakes, and made, 306HP? |
I figured... but the way the thread started and progressed, I though they were all referring to a car.:icon14:

As far as base weights...
2003-2005 = 3188lbs 2006-2008 = 3339lbs 2009- _ 3232lbs In other words, if he has an HR engine, he weighs more. |
