Assume $500-700 for the bumper, $300 for the tail light (I recommend you eBay one with your check)

I'm with Chuck on this. Go through insurance. I’m pretty sure she will blow an O-Ring once she sees how much it is to fix the Z. The body shop can whip up any color with the code. Amuse rear gross! Anyways that sucks man I believe this is your 2nd hit the other being your side skirt I think I read on another post. Maybe you might be able to handle both issues at once.

Get an estimate from the dealer, and two other high end body shops. Average the three together and that's what she pays. If she balks, go to insurance. The car's brand new, it should look brand new when they're done with it. If you can source the replacement parts cheaper, then do so. Just because you save money doesn't mean she gets to. Don't forget to add in your rental car costs while the car's in the shop.

Go through insurance. It's not worth the headache, trust me. It's gonna show on carfax, but so what? If anything, that's being honest to the next owner if you plan to sell it later. It's doesn't look too bad to be honest, but certainly ruined your day. You're lucky it didn't damage the rear quarter. That's a pain to fix/replace. New tail light and bumper and she'll be good as new. You'll need a place to color match the paint no matter what, so going with an amuse bumper isn't much of a difference.

Always, always, always get it documented (ie.e a police report of some sort)!! I'm all for getting it repaired w/o involving the insurance companies, but as others have mentioned, I've seen far too many times when people have called us, after the fact, to report an accident because the the other party has refused to hold up to their end of the bargain. Without that report, you all know what their insurance company is gonna say....."sorry, we don't have any record of that accident happening. Do you have a police report number???" When the answer is no, you're left with the choice of eating the repairs, or taking the other party to civil court, and again, who is your witness??
Bottom line, having the documentation is your ace in the hole if they decide to flake on you. BTW, around here, accidents in parking lots only get you a contact report anyway, unless someone is injured, or the other party is DUI.... |

cheer up man, my nismo was rear ended last week and I also know what you're going through. i feel like strangling someone everyday.
if she won't pay the full price, claim her insurance with the highest quote. also beware that, if you don't go through insurance, you won't get any supplement fees for fixing the damage when the bodyshop finds more internal damage. |

sorry to hear.
yah, dmv is home to sucky drivers (brand new and very old) so i park waay far when i need to go there. usually i can do everything online to renew, so i take advantage of that. also remember the same near airports. you got lots of visitors from out of state that are unfamiliar with the area and the rental. GL with the repairs. |

so im deciding to go with the cash option, she really didnt hit me hard enough for internal damage and if there is the body shop will let me know, the estimate came out to 1488.85 so the tail light is around 300, and the amuse rear is how much? and then paint match, replace and everything and whatnot. I drove it again afterwards and there was no rattle but im sure the first time i heard rattle was because the brackets got loose cause the area i got hit the bumper moves in and out and its not like that on the other side. Sigh....guess the amuse is gonna happen three years ahead of time....
