Which stock cars can take us?

I've seen comments in various threads about certain cars that can outrun a Z in the 1/4 mile. So here are my conditions before I make a list:

• excludes "super cars," such as Lexus LFA, Lambos, etc.
• must have stock/base manufacturer equipment
• naturally aspirated (- i.e. no turbos)
• same year, like 2011 vs 2011 for instance

Maybe I'm leaving out some things (feel free to add more exclusions) but here's a list based on things I've seen posted:

• BMW M series (not SUV's obviously)
• Mustang GT and above (that was for my neighbor who has a Cobra)
• Porsche 911
• can't think of any non-turbo Audi's but I'm sure there are some

If we account for similarity in price (let's put the Z at 40K), I would think it would be only the Mustang GT that would take us, right? Again, I'm only talking about a 1/4 mi sprint.

I know I'm missing some cars and I'm not trying to put myself out there as a car expert...not at all. I just drive and come across certain cars and wonder "I bet I could take him." Thx.

Note: And yes, please feel free to switch in Nismo Z to represent the Z if you'd like...just to make things interesting.

I'm sure there is more. The Camaro and SRT8 will only beat us on paper by 0.1-0.2. In real life it's more of a drivers race but stats are stats.

But it isn't NA, so it doesn't meet the OP's criteria. I'm not sure why the distinction was made if we're talking about stock cars. Modded, it makes sense.

Mod's do take in account in what our car can do, but if you have a 10 sec car and a 14 sec driver you really think that car is still going to do 10 sec in the 1/4? Uh NO. We aren't supposed to talk about street racing but here is an example. I have put my car against a manual camaro ss 2011. All I had was k&n drop in air filters and a stillen ud pulley. No contest and I banged every gear on the money. When we pulled in the mcd's parking lot he had exhaust and intake done to his car and asked what I had done. He really thought I had a bunch of mods. To me it is down to the driver, stock 06 gto 6.0 been there done that, 2valve mustangs full boltons, 2000 camaro ss exhaust, n/a cobra with girlfriend in the passenger seat winking at me as I passed by ya did that too and the girl in it that night. So on paper anybody and everything is fast and slow, it's what you do with your vehicle when the time comes is what reality is. Sorry for the rant, but I just find this thread funny to me anything is possible with the right conditions. We have a guy on the forum who ran a stock Z on street tires in 12.9 he can drive his *** off

I torn up a few v8 camaros, challengers, chargers etc... Don't believe the hype. We can hang with those and beat em with the right driver.

Anything that traps higher than 110 is going to beat a stock 370 in the 1/4.

Aaahhh...good to know.

Kinda funny...with how beefy the Camaros are, I thought for sure we could take them. Whenever I chat cars with my neighbor (Mr. Cobra), he voluntarily says that he thinks my car (roadster = the "slow" Z) could take his if it was a track where handling/cornering was involved.

Curious what everybody thought of that comment by him.
