does removeing oil pan cover help oil temp?

I have searched but can not find the answer, does leaving off the plastic oil pan cover help the oil run cooler? The one that you must remove to change the oil. Thanks

It might help a little bit, but the first time you catch a rock or other road debris up into the engine compartment you may wish you had not removed the shield.

Replace it with the ZSpeed metal one. It's got cooling vents (although it's hard to say if they do anything), and it's much tougher than the stock plastic one.

No noticeable difference. My oil pan cover, nismo version, fell off for the third time now and this time I wasn't able to retrieve it. I have the Zspeed metal one on order, hopefully it arrives soon. But for the last few weeks I have not seen any change from the norm.

I still can't believe Nissan charges 900 for the stupid little piece of plastic.

:icon14: Are you serious? That thing is held on with 16 fasteners (or so) and it has fallen off 3 times???

without the lower shroud i read that the front bumper can not handle the air and starts deforming at speed.

and yah, tighten those bolts snug tight. i lost a few screws on my G when i let my dealer do the first 2 free oil change while new. :shakes head: was a big mistake. (they gave me replacements).

Another good point. It keeps the bottom of the bumper in place. Plus, the car was designed to be run with it on. With it off, couldn't air force its way up into the engine compartment from underneath and slow airflow through the radiator?

Their are an awful lot of those screws alright holding on the cover. If it fell off, something is wrong.
