I don't AAA. My weekend drive is only 2 hr long and farthest is 45min from home. :D Asking wife to bring gas vs AAA will be about the same time. My fuel is never below one dot above half. I wanted to buy a tank anyway for multiple purpose, not just for this. :p |

You want to run this car hard and won't spend 5 minutes swapping the fluids? Here is the difference the fuel starvation and most of the problems you mentioned. You can fix them!!! I can eliminate most of the fluid boiling by swapping the PS fluid, cost $10 and 5 minutes of my day. The same goes to clutch and brake fluid (I do think the clutch is an issue, my transmission bearing is roaring at the drive thru). If you plan to track the car, you have to be kidding yourself that you can just go with a car off the dealer and expect to be fast. You might be able to do it with a slow Miata, but any cars that can go at a decent clip will need a brake overhaul, it's simple math. Also you have to ask if the factory is being reasonable too. I don't expect them to have racing brake pads for me off the shelf, I don't expect them to have a baffle that would allow me to go down to nearly empty. Yet I expect a reasonable design that would give me at least half a tank before I starve.
You are worried about couple paint chips over a car that shuts down with over 10+ gallons in it? You better hope it doesn't happen to you while you have a giant truck coming fast behind you on the highway. It happened to me just a few months back with half a tank in the car. If you want to bring a 5 gallon gas tank behind you, I will gladly show it to you. Quote:
