getting your old bumper back from the shop/dealer
 

let's say I have a damaged bumper and Insurance covers it.
If i go to a shop/dealer for bumper replacement, is it possible to get my original bumper back?

my thought is, you still originally paid for that bumper with the car.
so you should be getting it back..


any thoughts?

yah, if you want it they usually give it to you. might be different shop to shop. i would just ask.

I got mine! Someone messed up the rear bumper cover (hit and run; looks like they backed into me with a trailer hitch) and it had to be replaced. Asked the body shop if I could have the old one to try out different polishes/waxes on. They said take it. Still have it in the garage.
