got oil for cheap enough i guess
went to autozone and they got mobil1 5w30 5.2qt jug and oil filter for $29.99. the jug itself is $34 and mobil1 filter is $13 by itself. so their computer dont show mobil1 oil filter for 370z but it shows the k&n filter hp1008 for our car for $14. so i got the oil and the k&n filter instead for $30 before tax.
just wonderin it should be fine with mobil1 and differnt brand oil filter right or should i stick with mobil1 filter? |

K&N oil filters
Its better than OEM oil filter in IMHO.
I'll going to try a WIX oil filter: p/n 51358 available from Amsoil. It filters the oil to 15 microns (twice the stock filtering rate). |

Remember that finer filters may result in lower flow through the filter or require increased pressure to maintain the same flow.
I don't say this from real-world numbers on a car, but in relation to other filter applications. For example, your home airconditioner has those exchangeable filters that slide in. If you use a regular, cheap filter that doesn't filter as well...your airconditioner blows more air and cools faster (at the expense of some more dust in the air). Exchange that filter for one of the allergy fighting, super fine filters and you'll have pristine clean air but the a/c takes much longer to cool your home since the airflow is decreased by the increased filter resistance. My concern with the finer oil filters is that they follow this trend...a fine filter also impedes your oil circulation. Instead, I use a magnetic oil plug as well as a filtermagnet directly on the oil filter. |
