Next Nissan Z Scooped
Next Nissan Z scooped - motoring.com.au
http://liveimages.motoring.com.au/mo...ered&width=440 Saw this and wanted to share. 2.5l Turbo 4 Cyl. output @ 230kW = 308hp roughly. What do you guys think? |

Current car too much pollution...Cars Mfg all going "Green".

The next Z shouldn't be out until 2016... correct? While Nissan is sittings on their haunches even while designing a car that isn't in production they should rethink the definition of a "sports car".
By the time they release this thing Toyota will have figured out how to put a turbo in the FRS. Subaru will have released the WRX STI and this Mercedes - First Mercedes A45 AMG Turbo 360HP Sound Interior and Details - YouTube - is already proving you can build and tune a motor to perform. Yeah, you might get better fuel efficiency out of a 4 cyl, but come on! Who buys a sports car for fuel efficiency?! Not this guy. And I sure wouldn't buy the new Z. Looks like a cross between a 240 and a Charger with those vent lines down the side. The Charger part looks ridiculous. But I posted a rant about this elsewhere. It all comes down to the fight for fuel efficiency. They don't care about hp numbers. I think Nissan's benchmark was 300. But being a 2.5L vs. the 2.0L Mercedes? Both being turbo, the Mercedes is sure to trump the fuel efficiency battle on the highway at least. Even at 360hp. If it wasn't so damn ugly. I'm sure the price bracket is way up there too. But seriously. It can be done. We have the technology. Nissan knows how. They just don't want to. |
Never saw that concept drawing before, is it new?
|
Bigger version.
I like it from the windshield back. http://liveimages.motoring.com.au/mo...Pad&width=1050 |
I call dibbs on coining the reference to the next generation: The Dark Ages! One day I will still be driving my 40th with F.I. twins and telling my kids about the days when the Z and Nissan were relevant.
*Edit: 'Grandkids'. My kids actually know how awsome my car is! |
I spoke with a GTR specialist at a local Nissan dealership not too long ago and I brought up the 4 cyl turbo concept for the upcoming Z. He said that Nissan wasn't going to make the upcoming Z a 4 cyl turbo, but rather go back to its 3.5 liter engines due to weight reduction. That's just what I was told.:ugh2:
|
That is just an artist drawing of what they think it may look like and it won't look like a bmw. The z will share the same platform and engines as the current and future infiniti q50, so the next z won't be that much smaller or lighter than the current z. The 2015 or 2016 will be the next generation z, most likely 2016.
|
That is beyond fugly. I like the roof line and the windows though, everything else :barf:

Clearly still a concept drawing. Real production car won't look anything like this. I do think we can gleen direction of the car.
I'd dump pig of a Z34 for a 2700 lb 300 hp turbo 4 Z any day. Better weight distribution, and perhaps that will be a real 300 hp as opposed to VQ37 that has a hard time putting much more than 270 WHP down and spins up slower than molasses. Power to weight of a 2700 lb 300 hp turbo car would be awesome. Faster than current Z and we would get decent fuel mileage too. Last I checked 240 Z had an inline 6 and "tradition" was broken when they put v6 in the car. z really doesn't have any real power plant tradition. What I want from Nissan in a new Z is innovation not something that clings onto the past. Name me a few turbocharged 4 cylinder rear wheel drive sports cars? They'd be breaking some ground in marketplace. I just wish nissan would make a flex fuel version that allowed us to fill up with e85 and change tuning for track driving. Now that would be a green sports car. |
Oh yeah Nissan. Please make sure to design a motor that doesn't overheat, put a real LSD in the car, fix ice brake issue, make a rear end that doesn't over heat on track days, and make a real traction control system with a sport mode. You can keep SRM though!

I think I wont be buying a 4 cylinder anything that is trying to be a sports car,
I don't care how "cool" it looks. If they do this I would be keeping my 370 for as long as possible. I wont be confirming to the green scam BS willingly. |

All those angles will increase the COD along with gas usage. No way will this be the final Z car.

Awesome! I want to be the first one in line. Even the wheels resemble the original 240Z, yet with a futuristic touch!
Too bad that when production time comes, Nissan's bean counters will have scaled it back towards "ho-hum". |
It's coming
Regardless we will all find out come January Detroit Auto show.

all i know is the city stop and go mpg needs to be better than a V8. Right now its on the same level if not worse.

Beyond that, you'd probably have to go back to the Porsche 944, which wasn't a bad little car. |
Yes, its a sports car..and gas mileage should not really matter, however, when a v8 gets better mileage..that's not cool. Anyways..that new concept pic whatever looks like a sls AMG .
..I hate "concepts" ..talk to me when the real thing is out, then I will judge. |
Even though it would never happen I'd like to see Nissan keep the current v6 Z and also produce an awd 4 cylinder turbo rally type car to compete with the wrx.

The new 2016 370 will be a V6, becoming green by running exclusively on California Prius owners farts.
An added bonus is that Priusians are primarily vegan and vegetarian, which, of course, has a much higher octane level. |
