Couple more months...
i'm scared to see the design. at least they say it's lighter. |
"Palmer confirmed that the Juke Nismo offers some hints at what Nissan is looking at."
That's an ugly car. :shakes head: |
I am also worried about Nissan's styling direction. But on the positive side, if the new Z is a disappointment, I'll save money by not feeling the urge to trade in for the new one.

How stupid is Andrew palmer? Saying he wants to reach out to a bigger audience with an uglier *** car than the current Z34. And less people buy electric as well lol. This **** is not a prius. It is a sports car! he needs to realize that! or the legendary Z name is going down in flames!

I have thought for years now that Nissan will downsize the engine to a small 4-cyl turbo. Just look at the nomenclature of the Z. For years, the Z was referred to as the Nissan 300zx, 350z, 240z and so on. That number designated the displacement. 300zx = 3.0/ 350Z = 3.5/ 240Z = 2.4. The 370Z has never been referred to as "370Z" by ANY of Nissan's marketing materials. It has always been referred to as only the "Z". This has led me to the believe one of two possibilities:
A) Nissan is planning on downsizing the engine. With this in mind, they do not want ANOTHER 350Z or 250Z <-- This is assuming that they use one of the popular engines already in many Nissan vehicles (VQ35, QR25). B) They simply wanted a more modern name for the car and will stay the course of increasing displacement.....not likely. |

Not really worried about the design or power specs. I like Nissans recent design language and I doubt it will actually look anything like the Juke. Wouldn't be surprised he said that just to get people talking.
I kind of like the idea of a full EV version if it can perform close to the petrol counterpart. I'm still sticking to the idea that either an updated VQ25DET or an updated VQ30DETT will be used. Going 4-cyl doesn't always make sense since the "V" configuration is more compact. New V6 tech is also pushing the fuel economy closer to 4 cyl numbers. Nissan knows the Z will fail if it's not a performance car. It can't just be "fun to drive" like the slow selling Honda CR-Z...it needs to be quick and hold onto the Z legacy. |
Palmer added: “Can we do something in the sports space? Yes we can. Does it need to look like a Toyota GT 86? No I don’t think so. Can it be more enjoyable to drive, a real sports car. Yes it can.”
“Do I know what it looks like? Yes I do. Have I driven it? Yes I have. When will you see it? Come to Tokyo.” |
