Gun Metallic for sure. But really it all boils down to what do YOU like and what will make YOU happy.
Sounds like you're in love with both. Only advice I can give is buy two Z's |

Personal preference of course. For example...some people like the yellow Z, others think it looks like a mini school bus. Anyway, I owned an '07 350Z Gun Metal and no matter how nice and waxed it looked, it just didn't have that shine we all love after spending an entire weekend detailing it. I owned a Pearl White Altima and always loved how it looked. Also, Gun Metal and Silver Z's are common place and won't turn heads like white will. Just one man's opinion! By the way, I am currently in the market for a Pearl White 370Z Roadster. Yellow is a definate head turner, but I never really loved it.

I love the way PW looks in different light. Sometimes is is super bright paint like straight white, sometimes it has a satin look to it in lower light, and sometimes the pearl sparkles and looks like a diamond!

GM and heres why...
1) easier to maintain and should last longer than white after the years 2) easier to color match if you are gonna have kits/cf pieces 3) less common comparing to pearl white Z 4) head turner with or without the sun (especially the flat GM color when the sun is not out) At the end, it all comes down to personal tastes and prefrences. And i have to respectfully disagree with the "grass is always greener" on the other side comment. Cause we all know that if we will choose a black Z if we have to all over again |

EDIT: For the least amount of maintenance / hiding your laziness to wash, I'd go with silver. I almost did too until I saw GM in person |

I am surprised people haven't mentioned PW adds addition 30hp while DG gets more torque.
Oh well, we may already sick of this joke.

Colors
White , your car is easier for others to see, safer?, and cooler. And IMHO, doesn't stand out for law enforcement. Yes, you will wash it more. GM is harder to see, especially in the twilight hours, and you still get to was it.

The PW w/ black accents looks pretty nice actually and I'm not a PW kind of dude. Of course, I think just by getting the car -- regardless of color -- you're a winner.

He then told me nice car, I told him you too. He then smiled and said, isn't it nice to have toys? That was a good day |

OP, lots of valuable and passionate input here. Curious to hear from you. Where you are at after all this. Just wondering.
As for the argument of rarity. Not really an area to take it to because there is not much of a difference. I remember this post from Vince a long time ago. The only caveat -- production numbers run through Nov 2011 but give you an idea. 370Z US Production Statistics

Get the white pearl. Had my IMSA Mazda RX-7 painted silver pearl. It sparkled in sunlight, glowed under streetlights at night and really came alive at sunset! Pearl, chameleon, Ford Mystic, Cannondale Purplusion are so cool.

I love the way pw looks on a nismo but leaves to be desired on the regular Z. So on a sport pkg Z I would do and did GM. Nismo= pw
