CarbonSignal Diffuser Installed
5 Attachment(s)
After traveling the last two weeks, I finally was able to install the diffuser I brought back from Dubai.
A few things about the install. I used 3M 5952 tape to secure it to the original bumper. Due to humid conditions, I found a heat gun indispensable for helping to use the silicone glue along the upper edge. As you can see in the pics, 2x4's also helped! Just because I didn't know how well everything would hold, I found some flathead bolts at Lowe's and installed them at both corners on the bottom. UPDATE The silicone glue did not hold! After trying another product that also failed, I think I found the solution, after talking to a local body shop. I used 3M 08609 Windshield adhesive. Picked it up at CarQuest, but it ain't cheap! $30 a tube. I ran a bead along the top edge. Used most of the tube. Clean up wasn't too bad, denatured alcohol and a roll of paper towels. After it set up, I re-installed the two bolts I had previously placed at the lower corners. So far, so good! |
What kind of silicon did you use? i am awaiting some items from CarbonSignal and was wondering how to install properly.

Yea, that silicone Idea they told me scared me away from this product as I run my car on the track. You don't want parts flying off there.
Glad you got something that's working for you now. |

silicone glue... like glorified bathroom caulk? :ugh:

Good job on the install. Carbon Signal makes good stuff.

Since you also used screws, surprised the silicon would not hold the diffuser tight enough.

There is a marine silicone that is 100% permanent to remove u have to scrape off or burn basically. I used to use it on my boat bought it at west marine.havent found anything stronger yet

I know this thread is super old, but I just bought the Nismo V1 rear diffuser and wanted some clarification on where exactly the bolts went and if the diffuser is still holding up after all these years?
I don't want to drill holes unless I absolutely have to, but I also don't want this thing falling off in a year. OP's inbox is full so if anyone else has had experience with this I'd appreciate all the input for what worked for you. |
