Default We're Aging Gracefully, Right?

Seems to me, our Z's are aging gracefully, at least so far. That is, since the styling change from the 350's through the 370's hasn't been at all radical, to the non-expert eye even older Z's look contemporary and are therefore aging gracefully. For one who uses his Z only on non-winter weekends and will keep it for maybe 15 years, that's important. Am I right here or what am I missing? Also, will the 2015 bring a radical styling change or is a Z always a Z, with just evolutionary and not revolutionary styling changes?

it's hard to say. I mean, look at the difference between the Datsun Z's and the Nissan Z32. That was a pretty big change. But since Nissan has been making them, the Z's seem to be "evolving" as you put it. I'm really curious to see what the 2015 design brings to the table

Most sport cars are evolutionary versus revolutionary in body style designs over time. I believe this because most auto makers are brand image conscious and view their sports cars as Halo's. Radical changes in design of the same model, will have people wondering what brand of car it is and the possibility of losing repeat customers.

Porsche 911 and Corvettes are great examples of this. So recognizable whether it's a 1970 or 2013.

I think the Nissan Datsuns are the same. Age VERY gracefully. I too plan on having my 370 for a long long time

The 370Z is one of the better looking sports cars on the road, plus there is not 500,000 of them running the roads like mustangs and camaros. The rarity of the Z and the Lines will keep it from aging any time soon.

Thats just my 2 pennies

I think the 350/370's, but especially the 370's have a timeless/classic look.
One that harkens back to the 240's of yesteryear.
My 13yr old has even noticed the family resemblance.

(We play a variation of a game you probably have all played at one time in your life.
Punch-Buggy! Where you call out & hit your opponent every time you see a VW Beetle.
Well we play "Z Car!". Same game but with Datsun/Nissan Z's.
240's, 260's & 280's along with the 350/370's are no problem for her.
But the 1st time I called a 300ZX, she cried foul! I had to circle around again & pull up behind the 300ZX, so she could read the name plate, to get het to believe me.
Don't get me wrong, nice car, just doesn't have Mommy & Daddy's eyes, nose or butt.)

I love the looks of the Z. I think it has every other sports car in it's price range solidly beat in the looks department. Mustangs look good from the front but I hate the rear. Camaros are decent looking but too big (~300 lbs heavier or so?). I think I just love the Z's fat ***. And the lines on it looking from the side are so sleek from the top of the windshield to the roof, then seamlessly transitioning into the rear hatch at the same angle. I always gotta take a couple looks back anytime I'm walking away from her

+1 and the proportions are great vs most other sports/muscle machines. Most others are just too big. The Cayman/Boxster and the Z are just right. Big in no way means better these days!!! Great post and yes the Z is aging well.. Its such a nice package of capability for the money its amazing.

My 2009 is paid off with 11,XXX original miles. So I'm keeping my Z for a long time unless I get a wild hair up my azz with the supposedly 2015 redesign or something real drastic happens in my life.

It would be a really sad day if I ever let my Z go!
