370z: A Lion n Wolf clothing

I just ran a 94 RX7 with about 320whp at the "track". Granted his RX7 needs some tuning and a tranny because shifting from 2nd into 3rd there r some issues. He has a upgraded turbo with 14psi of boost and running on meth.
1st I took him on a run in the passenger seat of my stock 6spd 370z sport. He was really impressed with the low end torque and the sound of the motor. He also loved the cloth seats and interior.
2nd he took me out 4 a run in his RX. Wow. He has a little lag but when it comes on it pushes u into the seat hard. Very hard. The problem is when he comes of the throttle he loses a lot of power. It's all or nothing, but the power is impressive.
3rd we ran against each other. The 370 is a real monster. I was expecting him 2 pull away, but the 370 was having none of that. He was always within reach. Now I'm even more amazed by the Z. 2 not get embarrassed by a car with that amount of power is saying something. He has already said when I get TT's he doesn't want any part of that lol.
In closing OMG the Z is hot. Thinking about starting a car club in NY cus I'm meeting a lot of guys with tuned cars. We're planning a drive up 2 Bear Mountain b4 the summer is over. That may not b the destination but we will find somewhere 2 go. Figured I would let u guys on the wonderful news of the Z holding it's own.

320 WHP on a 7 is very nice. That car weighs about 2700-2900 pounds.

Nice report; enjoy your Z!! Can't wait til I get mine!

I have a friend that drives an 06' WRX that makes 350whp, I let him drive the Z just to get his impressions, he's won a few autocross events, so his opinion was somewhat important to me. He drove it for awhile and claims he fell in love with it, even offered a straight up trade! Of course I respectfully declined, but man, all that did was confirm my love for my girl, now if the Stillen SDS would hurry up and come out, id be a happy camper!

I had a twin turbo RX-7 back in 1993. Even stock, it was a sweet ride. The horsepower to weight ratio was great.

Sounds like the RX7 was very poorly running, Bone stock the car should give the 370z a run for its money.

My fd3s was running every bolt on, chipped ecu and 12psi. I had a fender on a brand new m5 till 4th gear. The car made stock ls1's and sti's look like a joke.

This. The 1994 RX7 only weighed 2800 lbs, and pulled low 13's quarters and sub 5 sec 0-60's all the time.

More like 0-60 in 5.3 and 1/4 mile in 13.9. This car just has so much hype behind it that people think it's faster. The Super cars of the 90's (300zx, RX-7, supra, 3000GT) all ran high 13's with around 5sec 0-60's.

:iagree:
And all of these were often modded to produce faster times. Ever notice how the fastest time observed suddenly becomes the "norm" for the vehicle?

Do we all think that our 370Z's are 4.6 in 0-60 and 13.4 in the quarter b/c one magazine achieved this on a single example of the vehicle? BTW, is there a thread somewhere with timeslips for actual Z dragstrip times?

Fantasies are nice to hold, and the "oldies" are often better in our memories than they were in real life!
