First time Pulled over in the Z

So, I was driving back home from dinner with a couple friends last night. I took a toll road late at night, and usually there is no cops during that time of day. Unfortunately, there was a cop just sitting on the right side waiting just for me :( lol. It was pitch black so I could not see him at all.

He pulls me over, and he quickly comes over and asked me how fast I was going. I wasn't going to lie to him, so I quickly said.."Around 83 or so, I wasn't paying attention"...He then tells me he clocked me at 90 >.<. He was telling me how courts are iffy about such speeds. The whole time I was being polite to him, and he showed the same level of politeness. He then told me how it would suck to get this ticket considering my age and insurance. I told him I should have not been driving that fast and that I normally don't drive that fast. ( I really don't ) I told him I try to be really precocious considering the car and tickets, and insurance etc.

He then went to the front of my car, and noticed I didn't have a front license plate. He asked me If I bought the car use/new and just told me its the law here in SoCal to have a front license plate.

He went to run my insurance and such, and when he came back he told me..
"ok, would you rather fix your front license plate, or get the ticket for speeding"

I said.." I will fix my front plate" :D

He then just told me to drive safe.

Really nice cop...

The thing now is that...I DON'T WANT TO PUT A FRONT LICENSE PLATE ON MY CAR :(!

I am in Southern California. Isn't the fine a small fee ? anyone know?
Do I really need to go get the plate and mount it on, or can I just pay the fine?

thanks guys!

It's $25 and you need to have it signed off by the CHP that you did it

Btw, good on you for taking the high road in trying to be honest and polite with the cop

kenchan 08-07-2013 03:48 PM

so you going to sue him for age discrimination? ;) jk

get the plate on the car if it's required.

I do not want to drill holes on my baby though :( ..lmao

Thanks, I figured I should have... Its not like I was just going 70. He didn't come at me with no such attitude, he was just calm and doing his job. I got so lucky he didn't give me the speeding ticket!

When it was all done, I asked him ...so ..how did you catch me anyways..
he was like " I have radar in my car, you came around that corner pretty fast" lol

Get the Stillen Front Plate kit that goes in your front tow hook spot. You won't have to drill your bumper.

At first he was like, it looks like you just turned 18..and I'm like 21* ;)

Sorry I can't comment for your SoCal location, man.:shakes head:

North Dakota is the same way though. Gotta have "front-facing" plates in accordance with DOT. So, much like the other super-tuners in town, I did this...

No complaints from the local cops here in Fargo. Only the State Troopers give me crap when they swing through the city.

aha, I've seen people do that, however, I do not like the idea of having the plate like that either lol.

Normally here is Socal, cops won't give you crap for the front plate. In my situation, it helped me get away with a speeding ticket. It was either the front plate, or a 500$+ speeding ticket with points on my license + insurance premium..etc. lmao

No offense, but in the unlikely event of an accident, I don't want a guillotine in my car. :ugh2:
