Zip ties would only be temporary.. lol This is only my second time getting pulled over, first time in the Z. The first time was complete bs..won't get into it, but cop experience was completely different. I called him "dude" and he got really offended lmao. |

Something similar happened to me. Cruisin through some backroads doing my tipical 10 over. I don't do anything faster than that. The road I was on was one of those that changes from a 45 to a 35 as it gets residential. Well not being familiar with the road and the distraction of enjoying such a beautiful day, I fly by a cop doing about 55. He whips a U-turn and nails his front bumper on the curb (lol). I guess it was the arrest-me-red sports car with a loud exhaust that got his attention. I pull over in a neighborhood before he even puts his lights on. Eventually gets out and the first thing he said was "I clocked you on the radar doing 55 in a 35, would you like to contest that?" I knew I was getting a ticket. I told him I thought it was a 45 but he wasn't having it. Goes back and writes me a ticket. I asked him if he could lower it to 14 over as I pulled over before he even had to turn on his lights. ( 14 over so it isn't reported on my driving history). Says no he can't change what the radar says (bs). I watch him go back to his car after I signed the citation and he starts looking at the damage he had done when he curbed his bumper. That was my little victory.
Anyways go to court and speak to solicitor. Pulled the pilot card and said that I didn't want my company to see a 20 over ticket on my license. She was very nice and understanding and lowered it to 49 in a 35 because my driving record was clean. Told me that it wouldn't be reported and there would be no points. Still got stuck with a $315 fine.

The officer was in a great mood when he stopped you. Have not heard of being given a choice. He could have been messing with you throwing a trick/fun question and give you both the fix-it and the speeding ticket. Lucky you. Must have been a cop car. In my experience, motorcycle cops are unforgiving. Regardless, they're just doing their jobs.

Yeah I know he could have done both, when he addressed the front plate I'm like crap, that's the icing on the cake. In other words ..he pretty much gave me a warning without saying it and just gave me the smaller citation instead with no speeding ticket. |

The Stillen mount is a good option.
PTuning has a similar product but it also has an optional camera (GoPro or universal) mount that attaches to the plate mount. There is a tow hook kit for it too PTUNING Adjustable Front License Plate Relocation Kit PTUNING GoPro Camera Mounting Kit (Add-on Kit for Lic. Plate Relocation) PTUNING Folding Racing Tow Hook Kit (Add-on Kit) I have the Stillen mount but I leave it off all the time. Have it in hot stand by in my trunk just in case. If you do get the Stillen mount I recommend cutting off the corners of the plate mount. The corners are bent in towards the car so if you remove it with the mounting plate still attached to the tow hook adapter it will scratch the bumper. Even with the corners removed you still have to be careful. VA requires a front plate but I have never been sited or harassed by the police. Even when I was pulled over for doing 91 in a 70 (went to court, got reduced to 76 in a 70 ). I think being polite and honest had something to do with that. The only time I was hassled about my front plate was at Norfolk Naval Base. An E-3 at the gate I was going through wouldn't let me enter the base without my front plate. Thankfully there was a Norfolk cop helping at the gate and gave a "you got to be kidding me" look to the E-3 when the E-3 asked him about the front plate. Even though I made it though the gate with out it I took the 30 seconds to put my front plate on once I parked. Didn't want to tempt fate and get towed. They tow cars for stupid stuff on NOB.

Mount the plate. Its the law. I have one mounted here in Germany on the front. That equals freedom on the Autobahn. Im amazed at how many people think driving is a right. Wrong.
Dont like the front plate make do with a solution that works for you. Drilling the bumper = first world non issue. Geez man. You got a huge break to begin with. Grow up! |

There are plenty options and threads if you search for "license" in the title or even "license plate" in the body.
Just get the tow hook plate mount. You can remove it if you hate it, and even do something else in the future if you think the position is ugly. But at least for now it will get you past a ticket that could cost $500 plus other intangible costs. You could buy 5 plate mount solutions and still not have spent more than that ticket would cost you. Personally, I have a plate mount ready to go in my car, but I'm not mounting it until I really feel some pressure to do so or I head out of state on a trip. It's been very rare that I see a pic of a front plate on a Z and think it looks good. :\ |

I typically dont show my insurance card, as is law in fl. That gives em a another option rather than writing a moving violation. Usually works like a charm. Show proof of insurance at the dmv, pay the 10 fine and walk out like a boss.

Here what you need!
Show-N-Go Retractable front plate on 370z 2013 - YouTube I would do this but already had the factory mount on curse the dealer. Plus my wife would skin me if I took it off then got a ticket after once having it on. |

There's a place where you can make sticker plates too. Take hi res photo and give them your dimensions.
