For those that are interested in my broken car

FINALLY GOT IT BACK!!!
$2604 later... Lol
(I tipped the mechanic $100, I forgot to add that in)

FUUUUUUCK!!!

My car is actually, finally done, and I can hopefully pick it up tomorrow... Problem is... My service advisor was fired 2 days ago... I REALLY hope the dealer doesn't try to screw me now...

MAJOR UPDATE AGAIN!!!:

My car will supposedly be DONE on Wednesday!!!
Extra mods when I get it back:
Genuine Momentum headers
All new silicone hoses (not the PCV hoses because I plan to put catch cans)
Z1 urethane engine mounts
CSF radiator!

Well, I got a call, and the guy said bad news... Immediate reaction "FÜCK!" And he said, "the intake valve on cylinder 6 where the nut was, it's bent. And we can't replace the valve, we gotta replace the head"
I said that it was GREAT news! And he said he found a head for $1400, if I can find one from a Nissan dealer for less, they can install it and I'll keep my warranty!!!
SWEEEEEEEEET!!!

I'm ecstatic, I don't have $2500 of disposable income, but I think they'll hold the car until the next paycheck with no issues.

My only issue is that now that the motor is out... I want headers installed too!!!

OLD:

Background... I'll update later, but check my previous threads...

But the car is at Fontana Nissan

So... Long story short(ER). They found a nut sitting on the intake valves of cylinder 6, causing the valve seat to get fůcked. No warranty because there ARE no nuts on the intake... So... I'm at a loss of $600 labor already, they pulled the motor and disconnected everything, then they bolted it back in just to save shop space.

IF they can JUST replace the valve head (because of VVEL they need to replace the whole head, not just a valve and a valve seat... POS) I'm out $1100 on labor, the valve head is like $1000-1100, plus (I assume) some other fees $300-400, so I'm out $2500-2600 all told and I keep my warranty. IF anything got stuck in the cylinder and scored the cylinder wall, I need a new engine... (Tech's said that they couldn't scope the cylinder because of VVEL... POS...)

So they're taking their time because they're cutting me a HELL of a deal on labor, and I told them to take all the time they need...

NOW, I'm 100% sure the dealership that had my car for 13 days with the laundry list of problems started to fix it, then I got into it with the dealershit guy, and they just tossed it back together...

kenchan 08-05-2013 03:52 PM

a nut? how did that get in there?

JARblue 08-05-2013 03:53 PM

Ridiculous...

I say get it put back together, put a brick on the gas pedal, and drive it through the showroom floor of that other dealer$hit.

Jasonle 08-05-2013 03:57 PM

:shakes head:

DIGItonium 08-05-2013 03:59 PM

:eek2:

I'm speechless... other than Megan370Z and VVEL meltdown, this is a first.

What he said.

That's... bizarre.

JARblue 08-05-2013 04:05 PM

btw... your thread title makes it almost sound like the car is for sale

But after reading your post, I don't think I'm interested :icon17:

Not a clue, there was a nut missing that holds the intake manifold on... And they assume that was the one in there...

Again, I'm sure that dealershit that had it for 13 days started to mess with it, then the guy accused me of denting his car and such, or he said, f this, we aren't going to get paid for these little problems like rattle and cruise control not working and stuff, blame it on the battery, kick him to the curb.

It's a trip too because my battery tested better than new at 4 different testing facilities... And even worse (maybe I can use it against them), they didn't fix ANYTHING not related to the car not starting (NOTHING is filed in their system)... And 13 days is a LOOOOONG time to have a car...

kenchan 08-05-2013 04:07 PM

:shakes head:

can your brother buy you a new car with that $30K-40K budget of his?

JARblue 08-05-2013 04:07 PM

I hope you go after that dealer. If anyone can get some resolution from Nissan, it's you :tiphat:

kenchan 08-05-2013 04:08 PM

true that. from experience i have not been able to get anything done with nissan's canned message lady. they sure train those dumbarse robots good.

I can only hope, and what REALLY blows is that in 25 months, I've spent $100k on Nissans and I had JUST purchased a Maxima from dealershit number one for $37k... Fückers...

LOL, honestly I want the ISF, we share(d) cars in TX, and split the car payments, (still do), but I chose to drive the 370 out to CA because it rides better. And he's put 15k-ish on that car, so once he steps up, I'm going to ask to take that car over.

glitch in the matrix..........

Mandingo 08-05-2013 06:01 PM

That is just the weirdest thing. A mechanic would almost have to be trying to drop a nut in there... or be really stupid and knock one in and not notice a nut was missing from the manifold. Yikes :shakes head:

Felix 808 08-05-2013 07:31 PM

Hate to say it Andrew but
http://forgotston.com/wp-content/upl...e_old_crap.gif

if you knew how fontana nissan operated you would not be saying that...in my experience one of the best nissan dealers that actually takes care of their customers.....and andrew i seriously hope they can cut you some type of deal, thats some pretty f'ed up stuff going on there in your engine

I think he was referring to the previous stealership, not Fontana.

Side note: I have seen first hand what a small nut can do to the inside of an engine. When I was back in high school screwing with my CJ5's carb I put the air cleaner nuts on the post. Well one jumped off & in a mater of <10 seconds went thru the carb, intake into at least 3 cyls as I found parts of it in cyl 1, 3 & it had cracked cyl 4. Hoping it was just a scratch, put it all back together only to make eggnog (coolant & oil mixture) in the oil pan . Man that sucked but the fun did not end there  Sent the block out & they thought it was a scratch too. Then they said we magnfluxed it, it's good to go  Put all back together & gee whiz it was a crack :ugh2: after a trip to small claims, they paid me to have someone else rebuild & install the motor. I wasn't about too lose all my time I had installing the motor when I told them it wasn't fixed

L33T Z34 08-05-2013 07:56 PM

Dude...That's why u never take it to a Stealership...They can fawk u n a whim...and make up sum BS Xcuse...The only time u'll see me @ a Stealership is when I'm buying a new vehicle...I don't trust Stealerships...never have, never will...

jpritche 08-05-2013 07:58 PM

You and I are having bad luck right now brother.. Hope it gets resolved.

luigi90210 08-05-2013 08:03 PM

Isnt this covered under warranty?

**** bro. I can only imagine what frustrations you must be feeling.

Well, Im glad to hear at least you know wtf went wrong with it.

If you never touched the engine and the other dealer was the last to touch it?

Hold them responsible for the damages. Thats BS that YOU have to foot the bill albeit a discount from Fontana.

YOU shouldn't be help liable, Unless they can prove YOU did it.

Im NOT happy to hear your footing the bill But its great they've traced it.

Good job Fontana :)

JungleZ 08-05-2013 09:14 PM

thats bs you have to pay for anything with a car with less than 40k miles. My honda prelude h22 engine wasnt even broken in after 100k... not 1 issue.

sorry about the news. Previous dealership were the likely suspects and would be absolutely difficult to prove they did this. They have the resources to drag this our for a long time. Unless you really love the car you probably should just get it fixed the cheapest way possible and just dump it and then decide if you want another one or not. Some cars are just bad luck. You could not even enjoy the darn thing anymore.

Possibly true, but this should be the last course of action after Nissan Corporate refuses a suitable remedy be offered. No need to deal with the dealer who did this at all. Time to provide a professional detailed summary to them and put the ball in play with Nissan proper.

You know what, I agree too come to think of it. There is some recourse. Pain in the a$$ for Andrew or anyone to go through. The dealershit that Andrew mentioned off Rosecrans have bad service all around from the showroom to their garage. I walked in there ly for test drive and no one even bothered to offer a test drive after I inquired. Their loss so I went to Fontana to make a purchase which by the way started with simple PMs with Danny at Fontana Nissan.

Andrew good luck bro.
