I've conjured with other sports car drivers and we have determined that this is a mild violation of guy code. No hand holding at all in the car, especially if it's a manual. No exceptions, my wife holds my pocket but that's it. I am fully able to shift and maneuver the car as need fit. Your girl's hands should be cuffed to the strut bar lol! All in all I wouldn't worry about it, I've gotten a lot of 5th gear crunch in the winter time and no problems yet at 56k.

Hey man, a very small talk about how to react is OK. I had a winter beater that was a '79 dodge aspen. The passenger door would not latch and when I whipped the back end out on snowy roads the door would open and then snap itself shut. The first time I took my grandma home (about 4 city blocks) she was calling me all kinds of names I cant repeat here lol... oh and i'm sure your care is OK lol

this is where it gets retarded: From 6th to N to a stop.

In neutral do not coast with the clutch in. While approaching stopped traffic use the gears to assist in (sudden) braking. The GF was wrong to put you in a gear but you should have been in gear already. From 6th to N to a stop.

What made her think it was ok to grab part of the car like that? She wouldn't grab the wheel would she? It's basically the same thing because she's panicking and taking control away from the driver. I would be seriously pissed if that happened to me - not because she freaked out but because she shifted for the driver. I'm guessing she doesn't know how to drive manual either because why the f would she shift to 4th? So in that case she's even MORE dumb because she had no idea what her shifting would do to the car. That shows a serious lack of judgement on her part.

But you're putting all the responsibility on her. Of course she should sit there and keep her hands to herself. But she was in a panic and people in a panic don't think, they react. The driver has a responsibility to a passenger to keep her safe. In the case of a Nervous Nellie the driver, for his own safety, should take care to make her FEEL safe.

yes, thus my earlier post, learn how to drive stick and keep your girl.

some of you guys need to practice MT driving on other cars first before buying these sports cars... you're going to get into an accident.

well usually when i drove auto she would hold my hand so im guessing she went by instinct and went for my hand. and what happened was i dropped into neutral then let off clutch to brake but mind you i was only going like 35mph ish. Then i clutched in to put it into gear after i slowed down but noticed traffic was stopped so as im letting off clutch girl flips and drops me into fourth as im letting of clutch, it grinds going in then stalls.

Hold your hand while you drive? Seriously? Put your hands on the wheel if you're not shifting at that moment.
