Good for you. How does that work for you when you have to entertain and take out clients? they just sit in your lap? How about going through a couple inches of snow to get to the office?

I'd much prefer to DD a loaded Honda Accord than a 370z. Everyone is different though

Snow... what's that?

Also, he's in FLA, so no snow there either.

As far as clients - who's to say there is more than one? Or that there's not a company car? Hmmm????

I enjoy DD'ing my Z.

I wish I didn't live so far, but it's meh I guess. I like showing off what I worked hard to earn.

As far as noise I had a sound level app on my android phone to check the noise level compared to my Eclipse during a test drive. Both were exactly the same.
While you can't justify it, others can. To me, the Z, is a toy. It's impractical but fun to drive. I couldn't care less if it's just sitting in the garage all week, it doesn't hurt me to have a second car. In addition, I get much more enjoyment driving the Z on weekends than I do sitting in traffic during the week.

Great sound comparison....since most people get an Eclipse as a DD....Try comparing the sound levels against a more typical DD such as an Altima or Accord.

I know he's in FL, but that doesn't mean DD'ing the Z in Chicago is a great thing.

If there's a company car, why would you DD the Z? Defeats the purpose. Could just be one, could be more. In my prior job, I was always taking out at least 2 people to lunch or dinner in my own car and expense the miles.

What do you guys think?
Why even think about a leaf, I would never think about that. Use your Z its a car and that is what cars are for. I use mine as a DD, I also read that you have a baby seat. Use the passenger side no big deal it is not as safe as the back but it is safe.

Because, not every company allows you to take your car home.

We have County cars, but we still have to drive into work... if we go anywhere we get to use one from the motor pool.

However, not many jobs require you to "entertain" clients, etc.

True. Just adding another viewpoint on why the Z isn't a good DD

Entertaining is the fun part! Being in the office all the time is too mundane for me.

Plan your life and buy accordingly. Live in FL and worry about snow? well why stop there, How is it in the arctic?

I'd much prefer to DD a loaded Honda Accord than a 370z. Everyone is different though
If your daily driver needs to sit three and you bought a two seater, then the entire statement is a Non starter.

Straw man argument:

Anyone can change the scenario. If you buy the Accord and then decide you need to drive six clients around, add in a few feet of snow and you still have a lousey DD. Should have bought the bus. Certainly 4WD.

I have had a two seat Z car for over 30 years as my DD and never hit snow, nor multiple unexpected clients needing a ride. We have taxi service in our area.

I am far more concerned with the possibility of the road opening up and finding myself alone with some curves, and not having my Z, then worrying about work.

Everyone is different though, as you said b15.
