I bought used 09 at 37,2xx I had short block replaced under warranty at 37,6xx. I didn't notice any sounds on the test drive but after owning it for a couple of days, I knew there shouldn't be slight tapping sounds from engine when i went over 2500 rpm.

No other issues since, now at 47,xxx.

FYI used does not always mean it was consumer owned. There is a dealer here that shops for "factory cars" These are cars used by Nissan or Nissan related people like factory exec. I got my 2013 with 1600mi for much less then new and it was the same as new except the od says 1600 miles.

Another thing I have been reading all over about the clutch failure also.
One of the things I saw was there was a recommendation to swap out the
dot 3 fluid for the GTR dot4?? fluid. For the heck of it I called service to ask they confirmed there is a service bulletin on this and this action is meant to be a prevention to the problem. I am not sure how much this problem exists between 2009 models to 2013 etc. I assume it can occur on 2013's also.

My local dealer Z service guy also said he has not had any Z's come in for this, only one did he have to change the slave csc and that was due to a leak. So the percentage of occurrences may not be as bad as it seems from what is seen in the forum. At least I hope that is the case..

Bought an '09 with the 100k warranty. It looked to be a commuter car with absolutely zero mods, not even the cabin air filter. Sometimes it's better to get a car that's regularly driven. Cars aren't meant to just sit around.

First thing I did was pull the fuse for the steering lock, forget the recall. I do all the maintenance myself which really helps keep the car running great. I had dealership replace the head gaskets as I saw green coolant was leaking through. It seemingly passed the compression test before it was sold, and it never affected drive-ability. That's why you need to be on top of things. No one will care about your car more than you.

Also had an issue with my idle dropping and cleaning the throttle bodies solved that completely (easy DIY). Think it's a reliable car for me....though that damn fuel starvation issue got me once. lol

What happened with your fuel starvation? I also have an 09 7AT. Steering lock replaced under warranty.

Right Hand turn, low on gas, and too much throttle left me stranded needing gas. All Z's can get this.

Look into pulling the fuse for the steering wheel lock and never worry about it again.

Fuel starvation is not a little matter, it's been happening to people with more than a few dots left. What a joke
