To tell you the truth Id like the see the Z stay na but I wouldnt mind 3.0 TT V6 over a TT 4 cyl. I would love to see a V8 in the next Z [a la M3] also but I know that wont happen due to green initiatives and gas prices. Smaller motors with turbo seems to be the future for most mfgs now.

The only problem is that a smaller motor with a turbo has never proven to be more green or get better mpg than a larger motor. Even Car and Driver's April issue had a small section devoted to this. Scan to come.

Putting a turbo in a Z would probably rocket the car into the GT-R pricerange. Imho the probability of this happening are akin to that of peace in the world by New Year's. A V8 370Z, however, is a possibility.

I can see the GT-R going extinct in a few years as a limited-run classic. The 370z ending (in like 5 to 7yrs) and the new generation car being a 400zx. Maybe it will be a small block V8. N/A on base model running 400hp n 340 lbs toque with an optional 4.0L ttdi pushin 550hp n 490lbs tq.
A 2 seater and 2+2 model on the nissan name. I see the G37 taking on its own identity seperate from the later ZX models. I see these ZX models starting at $45k goin up to $70k. Sounds kinda like history will repeat itself in my prediction huh. Lol Expect the Z to go upmarket again and a new silvia type car to be the 30 to 40k car. |

It could be possible. The main questions should be, It could be cost effective for the costumers? Market? How much people would pay for it? It will be in a competitive price vs aftermarket TT kits?
Definitely, all question could be Yes. People will be glad to pay for a 370z TT that would be covered under Nissan Warranty, maybe in a price range close to a 40 to 50K (at the most). That will, obviously, put in a rocket the reputation of Nissan, it will put the 370z in a level that never could imagine. 1) GT-R, a brutal performance car that is in a "affordable" range, putting Nissan Brand Name in a upper level scale with Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc... Maybe not to many people consider the GT-R an exotic looking car, but anyway. 2) Nissan 370z TT, will put another sight of Nissan capabilities to the extreme at a well costumer concern value. Now lets put Value Engineering at work, Material Testing, etc... I think, that if this car is built, the GT-R would be the most affected. So I believe, everything with the 370z with a TT V6 is possible, but it will not, in my opinion, affordable to build for Nissan because of the GT-R at the market, unless they build a new engine for the GT-R, a V8 4.5L already developed for the 350z Xanavi, But again, it will increase in who never know in what level the price of the GT-R, probably... But who knows, they also have a fully built platform with a VQ30DETT V6, so they can continue from there. I think that is the same issue happening with Mitsubishi, Eclipse vs Evolution (I don't know much about this issue, so if I am wrong, feel free to correct me ) Last edited by o0javi0o; 08-05-2009 at 07:49 PM. |

Displacement is an American thing and with Emissions you will see more and more turbo charged cars with small displacement to keep power up within tighter emission regulations.
Who ever thought the Camaro would come with a four cylinder turbo. Not here yet but its coming....
