Whatcha all think?

I was told today that my car is basically a street legal race car that should be on Summit Point Raceway. Driving around in normal conditions is going to continue to scrape the front tires and eventually the inside of the rear tires will begin to get scuffed.

Making me think my most expensive upgrade to my car wasn't worth it. :(

I need some positive outpouring! Please tell me I didn't do the wrong thing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Z but today's comments kinda hit hard.

Damn, that just looks too good to change. Grrrrrr! :icon14:

I think its the sex, if you like it wtf cares what someone else says? Its not like the tires are going to last for 50k miles anyway.

Very true.....I usually don't let it but today wasnt a good day and that was just the icing on the cake. I guess I'm more venting than worrying. Thanks! :tiphat:

Are you asking us if the negative camber will make the inside of your tires wear out prematurely? I believe it will. If you don't have a rear camber kit you should get one. I don't think you can install front camber kit because of the low offset you chose because if you return the front camber to oem settings the top of your wheels will stick out past the fenders.

I think it looks good too but stock rear tires on oem suspensions last about 20k miles if you rarely drive hard. If you want your tires to last 20k miles you should get rear camber kits. I don't think you can get a front camber kit.

Thanks for the tip. No, I don't have but did consider a rear camber kit. The rears look perfect, the fronts, however:

Would adding a rear camber kit fix this? Or is the solution raising the car slightly? Yeah, I guess that is my main concern.

Those rims look sick! Dont even worry about it dude. Just take care of it, and take the proper precautions to make sure everything lasts. And you'll be fine.

Looks sexy as hell. Do not change. That is all :) Move along, nothing to see here :)

nogoodname 08-01-2009 07:14 PM

trim the upper most part of the inner fender, just a bit from the inside...no one will ever see it...lol.....only a small trim is needed b/c the tire hits directly on top, so don't trim the whole inner fender...lol

Heres a guide if you want to trim.

is the solution

gatorfast 08-01-2009 07:47 PM

why not raise it a little? you can prob just go up 1/2" or so and that may reduce the rubbing but still look plenty low

nogoodname 08-01-2009 07:47 PM

or keep it slammed and cut the inner lining out

Sounds like someone like the slammed look, huh? Yeah, me, too!

Thanks for the pics! Now at least I know I got options.

nogoodname 08-01-2009 07:51 PM

i'm sure it's just that piece of plastic.......if it was hitting the fender, ur fender should be dented by the wheel by now.....

Caravanshaka 08-01-2009 09:07 PM

This is the reason I didn't go quite as aggressive on the offset as you did, looks beautiful but I didn't want the headache if I wanted to really lower my car :(

I'd suggest doing a little trimming as others have said, because the car looks absolutely fantastic. :leghump:

If you raise it up at all, the wheels will get pushed out a tad at normal ride height, which may not look right. Jasonhout showed his Vossens sticking out at least 8-10 mm's before he lowered it, and after he lowered it they looked very flush.

There wouldn't be anything wrong with taking it to Summitt Point for a Friday at the Track either. I plan on doing that soon. It really is the only way to legally "get into it".

nogoodname 08-01-2009 10:18 PM

has to trim it 1st before going there

Since I have never been into modding cars, I have a question. Does lowering your car to that degree have a negative effect on the cars handling? I think the car looks great lowered like that, but 2's gotta lot of performace bolt-ons. It would be a shame to hurt the cars performance or handling for a slammed look. If that's the case I would raise it up about a 1/2 inch. Nobody will really notice.

Caravanshaka 08-01-2009 10:50 PM

IF you are rubbing, ya it is hindering performance. However if you aren't rubbing you have effectively lowered your center of gravity for better handling, assuming your springs/shocks are setup to handle the lesser amount of travel. Most coilovers are ready for that though :)

:iagree: Would be fun to do that one day for sure!
